Dear all

I admit it I am a sad sorry soap addict. Currently I watch Emmerdale, Corrie,

Eastenders, ide and Doctors at lunchtime if possible. Have lost track

of Neighbours and can't get into Crossroads.

I've even been known to record them all whist away on holiday (with my poor

Dad going round to swap tapes) although I must admit I couldn't be bothered

watching them when I got home

Whilst only having allowed myself to get hooked on Neighbours, the

addiction is bad. I read the ozzie spoiler pages when I am away (on

the net) so I don't miss anything, and sometimes when I am here too.

Otherwise I really hardly watch TV. I blame DD5 for this; when

attending after school private lessons for her GCSE's a few yrs ago,

she asked me to watch it to keep her updated. I protested, groaned,

moaned, but did it, and that was that.

I used to watch Neighbours when I was in the 6th for at school - we'd dash

back up to our common room after lunch to watch it, but I haven't really

watched it since. I caught a few episodes in Oz last month and was totally

confused. The only people I recognised were people that I thought were dead!

Oh thank goodness !! me Too and I've got it bad!! When we were on

holiday about 18 months ago I videoed every day only because I knew

that Drew and Libby were going to at last have the 1st kiss - and it

was such a disappointment - a few seconds on screen! I got hooked

when I was at Uni - when we were studying for finals we used to put

an alarm clock on and all down books to get our lunchtime fix!

Now I watch as the kids are playing after tea or if I am really lucky

both DD's will go down for a sleep in the afternoon (just about

1.40pm!) and I get 20 mins in peace. When DH came home from work

early recently DD1 turned to him as he walked through the door and

said ' SSSShhhh daddy, mummy's TRYING to watch Neighbours!

Where do you find the spoliers on the web - please tell.

Also Sue in Oz could always give us some inside knowledge!

I just sat and cried my eyes out during Drew and Libby's wedding, I

had been waiting for them to get married for so long! My kids (mostly

grown up!) just sat and gawped at me in total amazement. I followed

Karl and 's marriage problems with avid interest, and now...Madge

isn't well. I can't take it!!!

I'm hopeless.

The spoiler page is at

It doesn't go into much detail but it's enough to ruin suspense for

several weeks ahead :-)

Oh I got hooked on neighbours when I was pregnant with DS1. Watched

faithfully for next few years until I was pregnant with No. 3 child.

I was so exhausted with the other two and the only peace I got was the

half an hour that Sesame Street was on - but it clashed with

neighbours! So I gave up my neighbours in favour of a half hour rest

and by the time I was fit enough to watch it again I didn't recognise

half the people and all my favourites were gone!

I am an avid Coronation Street fan though. Don't find it quite so

depressing as Eastenders. So who do you reckon raped Toyah? I have a

real hunch that it is the bloke that Dougie threw out of the flats and

who she befriended but then he reckoned she'd turned her back on him.

What do you think? Sorry non-Coronation Street fans, hope you don't

mind.

I used to be a total soap freak then I started teaching AN classes and

going to committee meetings and my kids discovered cable tv and

suddenly I was missing Neighbours, Corrie and Eastenders. Emma as a

small child would burst into tears if she heard the Eastenders or

Corrie music cos it meant bedtime :)) And when she was born she would

shut up instantly when the Neighbours music came on cos I used to

watch it twice a day when she was in utero!! Now, I am a soap free

person and I really don't miss it at all. Apart from when people

start discussing it and I think " oh no! Poor Toyah, must tune in and

find out what happened...... " However DH grumbles enough about my

ongoing addiction to Casualty, A&E, Holby City etc so I don't think

I'll be allowed to indulge - thats even presuming I could find the

time. I'm out every evening this week.

This prob doesn`t count as a soap but I swear mine learnt the

Countdown theme tune and clock in the womb! For me it meant half an

hour *sitting down* during the day (a whole hour, if I got organised

in time for 15 to 1!), relaxing and feeding DD1, then 3 yrs later

feeding DD2&cuddling DD1 with a book.

I used to be a Brookie fan in the early days of Sheila & Bobby,

& co..I remember the lines ...'But ! You are a

naturally talented accountant!' but I wouldn`t recognise any names

from soaps now.

That's who it was! I kept wondering why he looked vaguely familiar.

ahhh now you're confused!

Jim R was one of the original characters in Neighbours -Son in Law of

Helen s, 's Father... probably not related to anyone who is

left now at all!!

Dr Corday is in ER, played by (Moll Flanders) Kingston.

She has been treating someone played by the same actor as played Jim

(Alan something I think!!)
