Well,

I was sick all week too, all I did was lay in bed & run to poop every 20 minutes for 5 days & nights, couldn't eat either, barely slept, So all I did was drink water. The great part is I LOST 15 POUNDS !!! yippie !!!!

Eating is over rated....lol.... I have ate now for a couple days, starting tomorrow I am starting the Master Cleanse. I am shooting for 30 days this time. It would be awesome if I keep up the 15 pounds a week weight loss. I have done the Master Cleanse before & it's pretty easy. Plus it is really cheap way to lose wieght. Some of you might want to give it a shot? Just google "Master Cleanse". What I found to be rather interesting is after being sick & no food my knees feel great !! Also the colors seem much brighter to me. I have done all sorts of cleaning the past few days that I was too tired to do before. From all I have read the secrect is to eat Only Organic foods after you come off the cleanse, I am not sure if I can manage that but I will be better at not eating any junk after I finish.

Anyone else going to try this? If you do feel free to contct me off list too for moral support !!!

Before you ladies get your panties in too big of a bunch I suppose I should give you a little background.

As far as I know I do not have a thyroid problem. I have a few of the symptoms but some can be atributed to other factors. My husband on the other hand does & so do a few freinds, mostly I read this group to help them.

As far as important minerals are concerned, the last time I did the master cleanse I had blood work done & it was all great on that end, you need to watch that when you have had a heart attack like I did 3 years go (died twice during it) I also take liquid vits & minerals every day. OH & the 15 pound a week weight loss ..... lol .... sorry I was messing with you on that , I KNOW that won't happen with me. It's usally about 5 a week max, which is alot, but you gain about half it back with in a few weeks. While I was sick ALL I had was water.

As for the "Master Cleanse" it is not a DIET, it is a CLEANSE !!! The side effect is weight loss. Also, it is NOT starvation as you do have the Unprocessed Maple syrup Grade "B" OR molassas & the organic lemons. There are 800 calories in the Molasses alone & another 100 or so from the lemons. I don't know calories on the UNprocessed maple syrup Grade "B" as I use Molassas it's lower in sugar. If you go back to the beginning of earth we didn't always have food every day, we had periods of starvation, usually only 4 or 5 days. It is good for us to "clean out" our bodies from time to time. Especially people who take a lot of medications, it gives your body a time to rest. Life saving meds are alittle different story, but if you are truly healthy & eating good pure foods with no preproccessed junk, you probley don't need any meds. I have friends that say thier pain meds work much better after 5 to 7 days on the cleanse.

By The Way I had not gained back the wieght I had lost the first time I did the cleanse, only 10 days that time. I will not starve, so don't worry about me. There is a discussion group about the CLEANSE & I have read up & believe me having died once I am NOT ready to go yet !!!

Granny used to do juice fasts, etc. she was around 80 when she kicked the bucket & great granny was 103. I do want to give you a little food for thought though, "they" say it's dangerous to lose wieght "too fast", we'll explain this to me then, If I can GAIN 15 pounds in a week.......why then is it sooo dangerous to "lose " it in a week?

That sounds a little better, lol......................from your email it sounded like you were going to stop eating ,do the cleanse and lose 15 pounds a week for however many weeks you needed to ....................good luck!.................Meleese xxx

Ok, so YOU don't have thyroid issues, (yet !) but you are encouraging

people who do have them to do the same thing ! That is irresponsible. People

with hypo need more than 9000 calories a day. One of my stupid doctors once

put me on a 9000 calories a day diet (when I was ignorant), and I gained

6lbs in eleven days.

Maybe you haven't put back the lbs yet, but what sort of problems are you

building up for yourself in the future ? As for putting on 15lbs in a week,

that's not fat - it's impossible to put on 15lbs of fat in a week - it's

water, and yes, that comes off fairly quickly when you diet. With the fat

you have to go slower.

Ok, so maybe it isn't a 'diet' as such, it's for cleansing. But 30 days ????

I still think it's a stupid idea, and nothing you say could ever convince me

otherwise. The dammage you might do to yourself won't necessarily show

itself immediately. You're young (I imagine), these things could creep up on

you in your old age. Take care.

I'll jump in with the numbers....

To gain 15 lbs of fat weight in a week you'd have to be eating an extra

49,500 calories (that comes out to a bit over 7,000 extra calories per

day or the need to consume nearly 500 extra calories every one of the 16

hours most of us are awake a day..... that kind of an extra food intake

would be rather noticeable...

Same goes for the reverse... to lose that much fat weight you have to

have a 49,500 calorie deficit for those 7 days.... that can be done....

if your hyper.....

Now to gain and lose as much as 15 lbs in a week... you're looking at

MOST of it being water weight... the loss of water weight, while make us

less bloated and the needle on the scale move down.... isn't what most of

us are looking for when it comes to weight loss.

As far as a colon cleanse goes.... on rare occasions it's of benefit....

as a regular regime... it's of questionable benefit and for far too many

folks it causes far more problems then it solves.

Dangers (without going into the hormonal aspects) include damage to the

digestive tract including natural rhythms and bacterial populations as

well as the imbalance of the acid chemistry. Then there is the leaching

of vitamins and minerals from the system. And that doesn't even touch

what it does to the metabolic rate of the person...

Dangers for those of us dealing with things such as thyroid hormone

replacement and/or the accompanying adrenal issues include depletion of

hormone reserves, disruption of glandular function, depletion of raw

materials used in hormone production ( to keep from getting too long, the

short list includes iodine, selenium, B vitamins, iron, vitamin C... etc)

900 calories a day is not enough to sustain an adult... and the suggested

sources for those calories in no way meet the nutritional requirements of

a healthy adult, that isn't even getting into issues faced my folks with

health conditions like those of us with hormonal imbalances.

The stresses this causes to the system of a person that is struggling to

get their body back into normal function... well...

IN MY PERSONAL OPINION

not a wise idea

One week of this regime would pretty much trash conversion, it would

lower thyroid gland function, increase stresses to the adrenal glands and

put the person at an increased risk of damage to both sets of glands.

Lili.... I like what you brought up.... eons ago 20 was old... thirty

was dead. Fasting was due to lack of food, not choice.. those that lived

through periods of food shortages survived but it did shorten their life

expectancy drastically....

In modern history marriages happened as soon as the young people were old

enough to bear young, to increase the chances that they would be alive

long enough to raise their children to an age where they could fend for

themselves. A woman not married by the age of 20 was an old maid cuz the

chances of her starting a family that late in life meant that she

wouldn't be seeing all of her children grown.

If a person chooses to do a cleanse..... it's a personal choice... but

I REALLY don't think it's a good idea for someone that is working

on getting hormone levels back in balance... unless, of course, you like

messing up your body functions and want to start all over with titrating

meds.....
