Guest guest
Hi , Oh you poor thing! Big hugs from the Tozier house! I wish I had something encouraging to say but I haven't dealt with this problem. My only advice would be to get Dr H on the phone ASAP and ask him what to do. Good luck! Guest guest
slipped out of his cast ALL the time. We had to take his casts off as early as the day after he got them on. Very rarely did he have a set that stayed on. If you see slipping more than 1/2 inch, take them off. It could do more damage by leaving them on. The best cast had were the ones that Dr. H put on himself. He wasn't afraid to pull the plaster a little tighter than everyone else. You may want to ask him to do it. That's what we ended up doing. Finally when he threw his hands up and told us that he thought would need surgery we took him to see Dr Ponseti. Maybe that is an option for you. Has Tommy had his tenotomies yet? Dr P recommended a second set of tenotomies and then cast weekly afterward. I hope this helps. If you need anything else let me know. Good luck Sterling Peek Help I need some words of encouagement. Guest guest
They haven't quite slipped 1/2 inch yet but I am watching closely. Dr. H did tell me that if that happens to soak then off. We had to do that last week. Dr. H did do his casting on Saturday at the symposium, that is part of my concern. It is not like we are around the corner and can just go when the cast slips. It is a five hour drive on a good day and I worry about the correction he is loosing every time we soak off a cast. Did you go to Ponseti and then back to Dr. Herzenberg for follow ups after the casting was complete? Did you start right from birth with Dr. Herzenberg or somewhere else where the casts were slipping? So he did the tenotomy to help the weekly casts stay on better? Did have small fat " sausage " feet? Thanks, T- In nosurgery4clubfoot , " " wrote: > slipped out of his cast ALL the time. We had to take his > casts off as early as the day after he got them on. Guest guest
What you are going thru sounds exactly like . He has these short fat stubby little feet. We started off at a different institution and after 4 casts went to Dr. H. After about the 12th cast total he had his tenotomies. Then he had a 2 week cast and then another applied for a week. Then we tried the markell shoes and we couldn't keep them on. Then Dr H wanted to just break from all treatment but he showed us how to do the streches and we did that several times a day just to keep them pliable. We did this for about 1month to a month and a half. And then we went back did about 3 more casts and then he didn't know what to do. So we went to Dr Ponseti. and he said " Oh he'll be just fine. No surgery will be needed " Wonderful man He called Dr H while we were there and told him what he thought should be done, which was repeat tenotomies and then weekly cast changes for three weeks then go into the mitchell shoes. s feet are beautiful now. His right one is worse then the left and will probably need a little more attention. As far as what, I don't know. But I won't let surgery happen. I believe Ponseti when he said he'll be fine.. and I'm sure Dr H does too. Tommy will be fine.. You just have to tell the doc to do what you want him to do and be very patient. I do think you should get Dr H to do the casts tho. Not that anyone else does a bad job.. just that it seems our little sausage feet require a different touch.. Guest guest
He may have to have them early... They don't like those done before the foot is fully corrected but like in 's case it helped to pull his foot up more. helped keep the casts on better... and it just sometimes has to be done. Some babies just don't follow the rules. Mine just happens to be one of them... Re: Sterling Peek No Tommy didn't have his tenotomy yet?
