Guest guest
Do you think it might be a stomach virus? We've had diarrhea/vomitting for a week here, vomitting for a couple of days, then diarrhea for another few days. Debi > Hi, just started the GF/CF 2 weeks ago. Guest guest
I posted a self-treatment (you can do it for him) last week I think. If this is allergy related you can do a 5 minute treatment and end an allergy rather than having to go through the misery of trying to avoid it. If you need help finding the instructions let me know. Just do a search for " instructions " and you should find it. But avoidance is KEY for the 24 hrs after the treatment or it won't take. > Hi, just started the GF/CF 2 weeks ago. Guest guest
A couple of years ago when my son was on the GFCF diet, he had diarrhea basically the entire 15 months he was on the diet. We believe that it was due to a lot of soy consumption while on the GFCF diet. Is your son getting a lot of soy? Possibly that might have something to do with it. [ ] Diahrrea Hi, just started the GF/CF 2 weeks ago. Yesterday my son got diahrrea after school and it is still there this morning. Any advice on what to feed him to help? Guest guest
Our son went through about twenty diapers a day for about a week's time when we first started him on the GF/CF diet . It was a nightmarish situation for sure. He had a very sore bottom. It seemed to us that there was just lots of stuff coming out..a little at a time. We kept him hydrated with bottled water via an oral syringe. A cup at a time three times a day. It got better. [ ] Re: Diahrrea Do you think it might be a stomach virus? Guest guest
I don't know if this helps or of someone can help me, but My son has been GFCF for 12 weeks now and he still has Diahrrea? It's such a mess but his behaviours are so much better... I don't know what to do but I know that this is helping him... when it burns his skin I put him in the bathtub and just wash him with water instead of using baby wipes which burn him even more and he cries... I need help to, but the Diet is very worth everything you will gain from behaviors.. I am giving my son Cal_Mag liquid, OLE,GSE, Vit A (25,00IU), B-6, Zinc,Milk thistle (1-2 drops per day), Vit C (200mg), DMG (1 tablet per day) +folic acid (2x 800mg per day), and adrenal support 2x per day.. I can give exact info if someone can help me but for 12 weeks he has had loose stools.. sometimes it's such a mess and gets all over the capet or his clothes.. I feel for you but they are worth all the extra effort and work!! Once its under control, increase the Vit C.

Guest guest
Glad to hear that things are working! Our little guy is GF/CF, too. Almost a year now. GF/CF has been great, but you may need to remove any soy from his diet as well. Our son had problems until we did. The frequent wiping can cause redness, but you may need to figure out if this is physical from that or perhaps yeast-related as you don't mention any probiotics use. For the tail pipe we used A & D ointment for first aid. If you are unfamiliar with probiotics they contain the friendly bacteria needed in the gut flora. If you decide that probiotics are the way to go select one that has casein-free on them as some pro-bos have traces of casein. Be advised that it may take more than what the label says as they must transit the acidy stomach to get to their job site. It's sort of funny because we are currently on the opposite end of the realm. Our son has just started pooping on the potty (currently 8 for 9 one very near miss) and we think he is either holding his stool or we need to cut back on a supplement or two. He goes about every two to three days now. Re: [ ] Diahrrea I don't know if this helps or of someone can help me, but My son has been GFCF for 12 weeks now and he still has Diahrrea? Guest guest
I ordered the Kirkmans CalMag and the very first dose I gave him, 1/2 tsp seemed to clean all the stools out of him. Went back to OJ and Dairy free with calcium and just very small amount 1/8 tsp of B6/Mag. >>> davidswifesharon@... 02/17/04 03:55AM >>> In a message dated 2/16/04 8:02:40 PM Pacific Standard Time, jenniferasmus@... writes: How much cal mag? Probably another food/s he also does not tolerate. Consider removing soy, corn, and/or phenols, they are common problem foods http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm Or consider enzymes http://www.houstonni.com/ >>when it burns his skin I put him in the bathtub and just wash > him with water instead of using baby wipes which burn him even more and he > cries... For my son, burned skin was from orange and green foods. >>I am giving my son Cal_Mag liquid, OLE,GSE, Vit A (25,00IU), B-6, > Zinc,Milk thistle (1-2 drops per day), Vit C (200mg), DMG (1 tablet per day) > +folic acid (2x 800mg per day), and adrenal support 2x per day.. Did you add these things one at a time, to check for reactions? For my son before chelation, his diarrhea would have been caused by GSE, B6, milk thistle, vitamin C, TMG, and a host of other supplements. Guest guest
Kirkman's Multi-Flora Spectrum came highly recommended and Culturelle as well. We dispense with an oral syringe with bottled water. As I mentioned it may take a considerable amount more than suggested on the label as I am told the attrition is pretty heavy. Try a couple days without soy if you need to. Also, Ker says that Cal/Mag might be an area to look at as far as reducing it to see if it could improve things. Guest guest
I was very strict on the diet for a time, and still had diahrrea. Enzymes solved it. I think you should reduce the cal mag. That's a lot of mag. Try epsom salts instead. Don't give GSE everyday unless you chelating. Anything over 4 days w/GSE tends to turn a yeast problem into a bacteria problem. For everyday maintenance, I would use something like Candex, or olive leaf extract. These products do not kill all the good bacteria like GSE. Think of GSE as your heavy hitter when you have a major yeast problem. If you clear out the intestines with GSE, and then don't repopulate the good bacteris with a probiotic, you will get diahrrea. Some probiotics I use: Primal Defence - usually at HFS Perfect Stool Proflora Culturelle - a must for bacteria overgrowth The one you use may depend on your child. Klaire labs http://www.klaire.com/ carries a really strong one you might be interested in. Its expensive, but you can divide the dose if you want. Probably the strongest one ive seen. Its called Ther-Biotic Detoxification Support. Some folks got a discount by saying they heard of it through Dr McCandless. http://www.klaire.com/products.asp?PID=2 & CID=1 All probiotics are safe. You cant overdose, ever. Some get a loose stool once their intestines have normalized and they don't need such a high dose anymore. That's the thing about suppliments, you are always adjusting the dose as your childs needs change. Let me know if you have other questions. jennifer Re: [ ] Diahrrea In a message dated 2/16/04 8:02:40 PM Pacific Standard Time, jenniferasmus@... writes: How much cal mag? Do you give GSE every day? Guest guest
Hi Jeanne, I keep a food journal and I went back to check and found I started the lemon juice/sea salt drink on the 21st of Mar. From the 21st to the 28th, when I upped my coconut oil intake to 3 T a day instead of the 3 t a day; I was having soft BM's on a regular daily basis. I only did the 3 T of coconut oil for maybe 2 days when I was starting to get a bloated uncomforable tummy. I stopped immediately taking so much coconut oil and lemon juice/sea salt drink. Now It is all I can do to have the drink 1-2x a day and I force myself. Same with the coconut oil. To answer your question, my BM's stopped and mostly constipation set in. So I am guessing it was too much coconut oil that did me in! Del ]
