I am 50, sounds ancient, doesn't it but when you get to this age it

seems young. I don't think we age in our minds more than about 21

only our bodies, esp. EDS bodies!!! Middle age is a very strange

time in ones life. You think you are still young but everyone else

is getting older. Does anyone else think like that?

When I was a lot younger, I said for years that there are only four

birthdays in one's life that really matter (at least for those of us

in the States).

16 - when you can get your driver's license

18 - when you can vote, buy tobacco, and go to X-rated movies

21 - when you can buy liquor

?? - what ever age you are when you can retire

Now that I am older, wiser (?), and past all of the above

milestones, I have come realize that I missed one. Once you hit 60,

you are grateful for each and every one of them that comes along.

The only sour note on that one is that I have a twin brother. Our

two families decided that, since we were living close enough now to

do it, we should have a 60th birthday party. That was fine, except

I did resent them putting 120 candles on the cake.

I no longer think in terms of birthdays. It is more like " am I

going to turn completely gray before I become completely bald? "

or " how am I going to keep my waist line less than my age? "

He forgot the most important milestone

?? - the age at which you can get senior citizen discounts. Unfortunately,

this number is different depending on which place you go - he's too young

for movie discounts, but he qualifies other places.

Barb,

I never thought of senior meals as a mile stone, but it's one I'm looking

forward to.

Rod can qualify now at 55 in some places, but I have to wait another year and a

half. <LOL>

Same for 10%discount Tuesdays in the grocery store and cleaner's we use [age

55]. Though one lady gives me the discount because I'm disabled :D I knew

there had to be something good about it.

Some hotels will give the senior discount at age 50. That's why our room rate

was less than our daughter and SIL's even though they were identical rooms. :D

What great perks for the " seniors " milestone!

(i even get asked for id occasionally (and 18 is the full legal age

here) <eek>). no one really believes i am 32 until i show them my

licence etc.

WOW!! That has happened to me in a while although people do say that I look

young. Yesterday, a new nurse was going through my list of medications and she

turned to me and said " Well, you look really healthy! " Hummmm

Hi Helen, yeah, I have that too. My eyelid on the right is much droopier

than the left b/c I had something called Moh's surgery on my forehead. It was

remove a cancerous legion and it was a huge hole so the skin was pulled tightly.

As a whole, things are getting verrrrryyyy droopy!! My right shoulder slumped

but my neck surgery helped that!!!

On a more serious note,,, did it happen recently and suddenly? Have y ou had

any problem with numbness, tingling or paraylis? If have or are really

worried, you shold definately see your doctor.

Take care,

PS.. if I could get a lesion in the left, then I would have a face lift!!!

Actually I do have one but it is by my eye. UH OH!! I just realized it could

pull my eye over to the side!! That happens Monday!!
