Hi Everyone,

I hope this finds all doing well.

Keegan is doing good considering this was her second decompression. Her surgery

was only four hours in length instead of the expected six. The neurosurgeon

removed her left tonsil, shrunk the right, removed some bone spurs that had

formed, and left the dura open.

The best part of the whole procedure was when Keegan was in PICU and she

complained her foot was cold. The nurse did some touch tests and she had

regained all feeling back in her leg and foot. Turns out it was the tonsil that

was causing her numbness and not the syrinx. Plenty of high fives in her room

that day.

She is still running her normal high fevers. While in the PICU she spiked 105

degree fever. They thought for days with her continual fevers that she had a

bladder infection. It was negative. Then they checked her blood. That was

negative too. Lastly they did a spinal tap because they thought she had

chemical meningitis, but of course she didn't. So once again she will continue

to spike fevers for no reason.

She has her headaches still but they are getting better. They seem to come on

when she is doing her neck exercises. I had her doing leg exercises too because

her gait had changed after surgery but is slowly returning to normal. It's

weird though. Yesterday after walking normal all day she had a killer headache

and her gait was awkward again. Today is normal again.

Anyway, just trying to get our lives back to normal now. Thanks to everyone who

sent their prayers. My sister checked my mail once for me and said there was a

ton of mail but when I checked everything had been deleted. So I never got to

see. Oh well.

Now we wait and see if her syrinx dissapates. One question though. Does any

other chiari member have a tendency to spike high fevers for no reason.

Thanks to everyone,

Sheri (Keegan's mom)
