Dear Pam,

I am sorry that I have no pertinent information for you, as I have never

heard of anything like this. I just want you to know that my heart bleeds

for you and your son. He must be in a lot of pain. You are in my thoughts

and prayers.

Naltrexone may help by making him more sensitive to pain. Consult

your autism doctor. Hope this helps.

Have a Doctor check his sinuses. My son would put pressure on his teeth and in

every case is was sinus. Flonase and a decongestant and antihistamine helped

stop the behavior. Also, occasionally he needed an antibiotic for sinus

infection. He never had a noticable stuffy nose. He is also nonverbal. It is

worth looking into if you haven't already.

I will pray for you and your son.

Blessings,

I heard about a child doing this once and it turned out that treating

him for PANDAS saved the rest of his permanent teeth (he had pulled

out one). He had been previously sick, and developed some obsessive

compulsive behaviors at the same time so perhaps he developed strep.

Hope this helps.

No they were beautify, perfect white front teeth. He has stopped at three

as we have him very medicated. I am going to go get some DMG per Dr.

Rimland's suggestion to help with any OCD aspect.... getting a behavior

plan together (rather difficult for such a low incident behavior) plus

pumping up his communication book and going to start teaching things other

than wants and needs.... let see... we are trying to figure out an

improved sensory diet and we are also having dentist and neuropsychiatrist

trying to find anyone who has more than just observational experience with

this... all the articles we find talk about what happened, but not why nor

how to fix it..... ugh.

But the meds are helping (Reperdol and benydrl while the other stuff is

coming together)

Regards,

Pam
