theres very little that can be done effectively from a medical point

of view for viruses because medications are so half pie and have bad

side effects.

from posters on this board i would not say micheal goldberg had the

right idea at all unless medication and escalating side effects in

perpetuity is the right idea.

my socratic challenege is that autism is unforgiving of

intermediaries and bascially to get results you have to do it

yourself.

i would not separate viral issues out except that it was indicative

of immune malfunction and with a broad based supplement and

nutritional approach this can be greatly improved.

i am noticing (at last) sunbstanial improvements in viral resistance

after about three or four months on plain whey with my other

supplementation. immunocal might be useful but i have never tried it.

for some reason there seems to be an expectation that medicine can

cure the ills of of a nutritionally depleted

substrate..........lacking iodine, quality dairy fats, skin vitmain d

etc and as the totally pukellimanious ads on show its ok to

have a disease and look appropriately thoughtfull because 'medicine

in here' and its just a wonderful wotld for sure and don't think of

causes....

Been there,done that with the viral stuff. Mike had the fevers, mouth

sores, etc etc etc.

Ojibwa tea may help both viruses and metal issues. Immunolin from Reality

Health research may help the immune system in general. both coconut milk

and olive leaf extract have anti-viral properties-may be worth looking into.

Reality Health also tests minerals, including lithium and molybdenum, both

of which have been implicated in the inability to defend against/detox

viruses. Because of what we've been through personslly, cyclical

fevers/rashes need to be investigated thoroughly. Testing should be done

for antibodies to chlamydddia pneumonia, toxoplasmosis, varicella, herpes,

epstein barr, and lyme disease. Chronic infection with any of the above can

affect both development and immunity. I don't know if you've gotten into

the chronic measles/vitamin A research, but mccandless refers to

this in her book Children with Starving Brains, and there is a ton of

feedback on her vit. A protocol all over the net in many of the group

archives. I hope I've given you a few places to start:)

There are people who post on both the message boards you indicate

above, who have done anti-viral with their kids, using rx medications

and/or OTC. I don't know of any groups specific to virus, except

those affiliated with Dr. Goldberg. However, these two groups you

mention, should be able to give you good info.

Dear Dana,

I guess I was hoping to find physicians other than Goldberg...You might remember

what a nasty time we had when we tried to treat 's high copper on our own

just with zinc(absence seizures, screeching, wetting himself). While those

things have resolved, they sobered us and led us to Pfeiffer, which has been

wonderful when has done things like put his head through windows...

I wish we were more courageous, but ... we're not. In the end, I know we have

done all of this too slowly, but...we did and have to live with the

consequences.

But when I look back and think that we might have done a dangerous chelation

schedule or started him on SSRI's with Goldberg because we went into a zone that

was uncomfortable but seemed promising at the time, I can't say which is better:

cautious or fearless...for us.

There are people who post on both the message boards you indicate

above, who have done anti-viral with their kids, using rx medications

YOU ARE AMAZING!!!! Thank you so much for the places to start....This should

keep me busy for a while : ) I LIKE that. It makes me feel there is still

hope...

Mike sounds like the most like my son I have heard of...Probably the name : ).

Can you tell me more about your journey? I would appreciate it so much. Did

doctors help you or did you do it on your own? I haven't been able to find a

doctor who is familiar with the viral stuff. The tests you are talking about

make complete sense knowing what I do about , but I'm not sure whom to

ask? Do you think Gupta would be knowledgeable about this? A virologist?

Did you do high vitamin A? What roads did you go down before you found what

worked? What worked?
