My Doctor will only prescribe 10mg every 6 hours because he says that it will slow the heart down if you are on too high of a dose, and with me being a smoker he doesn't want to push it by going higher with the dose. But, taking it every 6 hours along with something for a Breakthru pain med.. ....The Methadone works really good. It gives a constant pain relief, and better than I've ever had taking Hydrocodone or anything else. I'd definately try the Methadone. For 10mg, every 6 hours, a Months supply costs $65. I ask because my doc and I were talking and I was just wondering about possibly switching because the Methadone is much cheaper. I have Medicare/Medicaid but it does not cover the whole cost of the Fentanyl which is quite expensive. I would appreciate any info on how Methadone works.
