glad to see so many people interested in losing weight

remember--in the general population, losing weight can make breathing easier

hope it is true for the pf population

jack--the cpap has something to do with sleep apnea, it is a mask that people wear at night

i'm sure someone will put a link on line for you to see it

Hi to you Pink Joyce (boy I DO have to check which Joyce ';m posting back to each time these days!......firstly I'm a long way from the Bush fires geographically but VERY close in emotional terms! is a State I love to visit & I'm very famioiar with the places affected. My Mother-in-law is in a very dangerous Mountain areas just on the outskirts of Melbourne & very prone to Arson Fires in these conditions. We're quite anxious for her...her closest daughter lives in another such areas.. we hardly know which one to worry the most about!

I too am very interested in weight loss & have posted on this subject before... so only read on if you're interested Air Family....

I know we face the problem of not being able to exercise to our old capacity & the inclination to exercise is different for everyone anyway, BUT, the more weight we lose the easier the exercise becomes 'cos we've got more O2 to go around our bodies.

My rule is eat whenever I'm hungry BUT ONLY eat food that is NUTRITOUS... no other food is allowed to enter my house 'cos my willpower is awful!

Breakfast that is full of whole grains, fruit & protein is totally necessary to stop mid-morning hunger pangs in their tracks.....I've been studying the Nutrition Info on the packets of cereals & found that the Weetbix that I ate as a kid was by far the best on all counts... all the new whizmo, gizmo cereals come nowhere near Weetbix for high fibre/protein. B Vitamins & low in Fat n' sugar... so I've returned to the cereal of my childhood....

Steer clear of as much Processed food as you can... they ALWAYS come laden with too much fat/salt & sugar as well as chemical additives in their preservatives. FAT hides every where in Processed food... you'd get such a shock if you counted your daily intake from processed food of ALL the bad stuff!

Find ways to replace sugar... I've discovered Stevia Powder/Drops which are chemical free & come from a South American Plant..... wonderful for me 'cos I LOVE my tea n' coffee to be very sweet.. a taste-bud malfunction thing!

FRESH is way BEST!

Followed by snap frozen unadulterated veges/fish or the same in the tinned version....

it's the ready-made Microwave food that's such a bad nutrition choice...quick, easy YES but great for you... NO!

I won't even start on the Take-away stuff......

We ARE what we EAT.. it's OUR choice!

Eat, EAT all you like but eat WISELY!

At least 2 peices of fruit , 5 servings of different coloured veges, protein without FAT at brekkie & lunch & never after 7 pm (BOIL those eggs rather than FRY them, TRIM those cuts of meat... give the fat to your PETS..... eat Fish, FISH & MORE FISH..... SKIN that chicken NOW!.............oodles of whole grains (cut OUT the white processed bread, cakes etc put IN whole grain bread, Wholegrain muffins, wholegrain cakes ... cut OUT white rice out IN Brown Rice etc etc) it's about choosing different carbs... the ones that will stick to your ribs & release energy SLOWLY........

Work out ONE thing you can CHANGE each week & stick to it!

I KNOW this can work I've be doing it for the last 18 months... I've lost 15 KG = 30+ lbs... got another 5 kg/10+lbs to go!

I WILL get there... I WILL.. I WILL.. I WILL!

Slowly, surely & I NEVER want to go back in the other direction... whenever I'm tempted I visualise the Scales going back UP & boy that soon STOPS the craving for whatever it is!

I find Support is so important... it's LONELY doing the hard yards otherwise... lets support each other.....right now I'm finding excuses NOT to get going back on my exercise stuff after my holiday down in Tassie... the Heat/humidity puts me off very easily so I'm going to start just with one thing at a time... Tai Chi last week... this week back to the Pool with my girlfriends 2 times a week in the early morning!

Hopefully soon I'll be ready to go back to the Gym for my strength training... there's LOTS of loose flesh still to deal with now!

Cheers,

GIO

Don't forget to measure the foods too.

I am guilty of not measuring everything, but i do measure the carbs

- I agree with you as to how to eat! I find mysleflf psychologically nibbling so what I HAVE DONE is to buy 4 pounds of cherry tomatoes and some carrots and celery and some hard boiled eggs. When I get to need to munch I go and get some tomato's and the rest...the crunch is satisfying and the calories minamil. The problem I am finding is I don't eat my meals because I'm nibbling so much I'm not hungry and then suddenly I get STARVED and can barely contain myself as I grab things to eat- no time to make a balaced meal All I can think about is bread and butter...or thelikes of it! Worse, I stay hungry forever after one of these episodes. I am diabetic and I wonder if it has anything to do with that? But, on the whole I absolutely agree with you on eating healthy foods instead of junk food and when I make chicken for my dogs I get all thefat out and boil it and put in brown rice and carrots and they have that for dinner. Wow, Debbi! Your adventures have begun! You must know a lot about horses. Do you have to muck out the stalls as well? That's a huge job. Hopefully Herb will do that one. Those chickens just have it out for you my friend!I won't 'go there' but suffice it to say, you're in my prayers about the 3b.love you,KateTo: anxietydepressionandbreastcancer ; breastcancer2 ; mserslife ; TheOtherSideofCancer-NowWhat Sent: Fri, March 25, 2011 7:50:08 PMSubject: hi
