Guest guest
Hi Jo, Welcome to the club! Membership is free...but the dues are heavy anyway. So many things can cause weight gain, I gained while untreated hyper although most don't. I gain as soon as my numbers come back into normal range ON ATD's. But somehow I gain and lose a bit and gain so it goes up slow. It would probably help in answering you, if we had a bit more info. How long have you been on Tapazole? Are you stable on that dose for a while? How frequently are you getting labs? What are your FT4, FT3, TSH (preferably with lab norms) results most recently? Tired all the time and heavy periods sounds like hypO symptoms perhaps--but then again, I had heavy periods when hyper, for the last year before menopause. So, you never know. Plenty of other help will come from the group, besides all my questions. Guest guest
Hi and welcome to the group, I noticed your mention of heavy periods, and they're more often seen in hypothyroidism. If this is a new symptom since being on the meds, it could be that your ATD dose is too high. Be sure that you're having your labs checked about every 4 weeks and that FT4 is being checked, and also FT3 if it was high when you were first diagnosed. And yes, the symptoms will come back if you abruptly stop your ATDs. In general, the dose is lowered after 6-8 weeks on meds and you're kept at just enough of the drugs to keep your levels in the normal range. Take care, Elaine
Guest guest
Hi Terry , and you are right ,, and thanks .. Well the test levels I cant tell you because I cant remember what they were and I am going and getting labs every 3 months. Well they had me on the Tapazole 10mg, and I was just sleeping all the time , and so they put me back to 5mg. I am not as tired as I was before now , but I am one of the ones that have the opposite symptoms, I have the graves Diease(Hyper) and I have the Hypo symptoms. Guest guest
amm, Congratz on your pregnancy.. I too feel the same exact way you explained.. I was doing cardio kickboxing, and I felt full of energy.. and then they made me stop, PLUS beiing pregnant I feel the same way I did at my highest weight.. I was so lathargic..etc.. Right now we need to be concerned about giving this baby what they need and not losing weight.. BUT maybe getting energy from other sources. I am looking into finding a low impact aerobic class, or joining an indoor pool (i'm in ny) some kind of exercise to just give me more energy.. I too have 2 kids that I need my energy for... I wish you the best of luck! we can do this!! JenNY Almost 10 weeks Hi All I am not new here however this is my first time posting. I had my gastric bypass surgury October 10, 2002. I was 254 I had gotten down to 167 then I got pregnant. I was using BC and was not planning on getting pregnant again until next year. Imagine my surprise. I stay tired all the time and I am concered about losing weight. I had gotten up to 177 now I weigh 165. I try to eat of course you know I can't eat much. I know I can only eat a little so for the most part I eat healthy. What if any suggestions do you have for me. I drink soda because I stay sick to my stomach. I take my preantal vitaman twice a day I stay busy because as soon as I sit down I want to go to sleep. I had just gotten used to feeling tired because of the weight now the baby is taking all I got for himself what I am I supposed to do about my other two kids. They need me too. Thanks in advance. Sincerely, am T P.S. I made 13wks today
Guest guest
Hi thanks for your words of encouragement I need them my biggest concern is that I am still losing weight. I still can't each much however I do eat more now than I did before I got pregnant. Normally I would be happy if I was losing weight now I am a little afraid. Has your weight changed any since you've been pregnant. How old are your older kids. Are they excited or have you told them yet. Mine are 3 and 4 and want to know when they can bring the baby home. I might look into riding my exercise bike more. I tried to do my aqua fitness classes and the made me sick. Good luck I hope we both feel better. Guest guest
Thanks! Oh ok.. I read your email wrong then.. I thought you were worried about gaining the weight.. Your baby will eat the food it needs so I hear.. so as long as you are eating the baby will be ok.. Hang in there.. just try to nurish your baby and you should be good to go.. Let me know if the exercise helps at all.. My weight only comes off with the atkins.. I don't think my pouch was ever as small as some peoples' but that's a whole other story.. JenNY Re: Hi All Hi thanks for your words of encouragement I need them my biggest concern is that I am still losing weight. Guest guest
Deanna, As you are in our prayers and thoughts, also, honey. I don't know what planet that cardio guy is from, but obviously he doesn't take the time to get to know his patients. How can he treat them effectively without knowing their cases intimately? I have never understood these docs who think they can just treat the symptoms, and not the person. Luke of the Bible would be flabbergasted at such an attitude. Do what you have to do, honey, and know we love you, are behind you all the way, and will carry on as best we can. Guest guest
Deanna, I am thinking of you and praying that you will soon get some answers. I can't help but think that maybe it would be a good idea for you to get yourself checked in and stay put in the hospital until they come up with some answers. I mean, something must be wrong and they must realize that between your chest pain and fever there is something going on. Pull some strings lady and get yourself checked in. I know you hate hospitals, who doesn't, but maybe it would do some good. Hope you have a good night and are able to get some sleep after all. Mojo Hi all How is everyone doing? I hope you’re all doing much better than I am. As you can see it is 2:20am and I am NOT sound asleep in my warm bed L Most of you know I have been going through a lot lately and well it’s taking a deep spell on my health. I have been suffering from chest pains, and tonight they have started getting very sharp, I feel better if I apply pressure where I feel the pain. I am sure many of you are thinking to yourself, why isn’t she going to the hosp. Well that’s easy to answer J Apparently my old heart doctor doesn’t feel I have any heart problems and that my chest pains are most likely gas. (DO YOU KNOW HOW PISSED MY RHUEMY IS ABOUT THAT COMMENT!!!!!) I fired that doctors ass real quick. But the problem is whenever I do go to the ER for any symptoms, they stop and can not be duplicated until I am gone. So as you can see my body isn’t co-operating with anyone. I have had a gazillion tests, procedures, etc. done these past few months for not only these chest pains, but breathing issues, vomiting issues, unexplained fevers of 104.0 every evening, at one point they thought I had endocarditis, but the heart doc threw that theory away. I am at the point where I think Friday I am going to demand my primary to admit me until I have answers to what the hell is going on. I have had it! This is my life and mike does not deserve to see me sufferring any more than I already do with all my other health ailments. I have had it with the pain, I have had it with the difficulty breathing, the chest pains, the fevers, the chills, the vomiting (in which after the fundaplication I shouldn’t be vomiting like this let alone at all) and now I am vomiting a shit load of bile, and who the hell knows why. Gallbladder is gone, and I do know liver is now acting up. Wont even begin to explain the daily pain just from the osteonecrosis in the right knee and it is expected to be found in my hips as well (I get x-rays tomorrow for that plus another chest x-ray) So as you can see I have not been able to get to the board to read everyone’s messages. ( I do confess that I keep up with (well try) what the other moderators are doing and how they are J) Welcome to all the new members, welcome back MM, happy birthday to those who I missed, etc. Well I am going to go back and lay down and see if I can get any sleep before I need to be up in the morning. Take care everyone, and know your all in my thoughts and prayers….. Guest guest
Mandy, I feel for you on the monthlies, as you call it. I never was so grateful to a doctor in my life, as I was when I had my hysterectomy. I hugged my surgeon the minute I woke up. LOL You are still young, so it might not be for you, but I suffered so with my menses from the beginning, it was a pure relief to have it all out. I hope this doctor is a good one, and that he/she pays attention to your body, and the materials you have sent in. I do that, too. Send in my history, current medications, current allergies, current symptoms so that they are up to speed before I go to the first appointment. That way, niether of us wastes the other's time and energy. Keep us posted on what you find out, honey. Hugs, MM

Guest guest
I hope everybody has had a pleasant Valentine's Day. We got all wild and crazy and drove from Lubbock to Brownfield to eat a corn dog at a Sonic. Now normally that would not be such a great Valentine's dinner but we did it in the brand new Santa Fe Limited hubby bought me 2 days ago. It is easier to get in and out of the SUV than the big old Buick. We just needed to take a drive to figure out the bells and whistles. My friend Liz says I am a spoiled brat. I don't get that - spoiled - me??? Anyway - the kids are not going to Alaska - they are being stationed at Tinker in OK City. We just don't know when yet. At least they will be close enough for long weekends. Life is good. S, Lubbock, TX NSIP w/PF 12/2006 et al
Guest guest
, OK spoiled lady, I know you enjoyed your drive! ) I am having fits with my Volvo. My tubing gets hung up on everything imaginable and then there is the alternator, portable suitcase and all of the travel connections that just about fill the car up. I may think about a motor home if the price of gas goes down. I need to take it all with me... Sorry to hear your kids will not be coming up. I know you are glad they are close to you though. Guest guest
Yes we are all happy they will be close enough to see from time to time but not so often we can't have a life because they want to live theirs. They are a little disappointed but there were not any slots at Elmendorf. Oh well. They can settle down and maybe buy a house. And produce a grandchild! It does get harder to travel with our contraptions. Mostly my knees just don't bend like they used to. It is easier to slide in and out than to have to push up to stand up from the Buick. But yeah, I freely admit to being spoiled. Take care now, heading off to bed. To sleep, perchance to dream. > > , OK spoiled lady, I know you enjoyed your drive! ) I am having fits with my Volvo. Guest guest
Liz is correct....lol. Now, as to insane trips looking for a fast food treat in your area such as the trip you described to Sonic, seems I do recall a great midnight run four of us made with you driving in search of fast food, in which we found Burger King only because you missed your turn. I love the Sante Fe. > > I hope everybody has had a pleasant Valentine's Day.
