Guest guest
Kitty - I'm certainly no expert on the subject, but I just went through the positive ANA ordeal myself. I saw a rhuematologist also and she said a realtively low titer like that can be caused by many things. Graves' disease for one! Or there is a whole host of other autoimmune diseases like arthritis conditions, Raynaud's syndrome, Sjogren's, etc. that can show a low ANA titer. A certain percentage of the population have a positive ANA for no particular reason (that can be found yet, anyway). ANA by itself isn't conclusive of anything. My doc said since I have a known autoimmune thyroid disease, it's likely that is what is responsible for the positive ANA. Don't worry too much about it if the other tests are coming back OK. Hey - on a side note, I'm curious about your fatty liver disease. Is it just " fatty liver disease " ? My spouse has that also. Fatty liver disease sounded like a really lame diagnosis after all the tests they ran Sounds a lot like the " just a viral infection " excuse we hear at the pediatrician all the time! Hubby has a lot of horror stories about how many people have felt his liver at one doctor's appt. (his record is 6 people - " what's the matter? you people never felt a fatty liver before? " apparently not.) Are they doing anything for it? Or did you get the " just one of those things " speech? Guest guest
Hi Kitty, wonderfuly covered the ANA test, but my question is...are you sure That TSH is normal for you ? Do you have a running file on this info, and do you know this is your set point ? If not...it is possible if might be hypo for you.. It would be for me, though I know we are all different. You need the FreeT4 and FreeT 3 to know what is going on. What is your treatment ? Sorry, too many new people, and I can't keep track any more. :-) -Pam L -

Guest guest
Until a few weeks ago, the JRI was coding its surface replacements as a uncoded procedure. I spent 8 months battling for insurance coverage, filing appeals, etc. Finally, about 3 weeks ago, Chuck called me to let me know that the JRI surgeons had checked with other surgeons in the Conserve + study and found that virtually all of them were coding their resurfacings as THRs. So...effective immediately, the JRI would also be using the THR code for their resurfacings, too! Chuck said I should just send a new x-ray and they would re-submit the claim as THR. Insurance approval should be quick, and they would work me in ASAP since I had been waiting so long. I was so angry at having been put thru months of needless pain and hassling with the insurance company that I sent my new x- rays to Dr. De Smet in Belgium. Two weeks later I was on a plane headed for Gent! I'm now 8 days post-op and spent the day walking around the beautiful medieval city of Brugge, a short 20 minute train ride from Gent. I had so much damage to my hip because of the 8 month wait, that Dr. De Smet said if I had waited much longer I would no longer have been a candidate for resurfacing. In short, talk to Chuck . If they're coding resurfacing as a THR, your insurance should cover it. If they've changed their minds again, Dr. Gross (in South Carolina, I think) has lots of positive recommendations on this site, and does use the THR code. If your window of time to do this is getting short (significant damage to your hip joint), or if your insurance for some bizarre reason denies approval, I would recommend Dr. De Smet and his staff without reservation! The cost is about half of what it costs to do it in the States, and he's done over 1200 of these surgeries with excellent results. Good luck and let us all know how this shakes out! Guest guest
Air Family, I think I am very sick. 3 hours sleep, had paint and carpeting done last 3 days. Am having a LOT of trouble breathing, have O2 up to 4. Usually only O2 for exercise, 2 ltr. Have been on O2 24/7 for 2 weeks now. Had regular pulmo visit Tues 2/3, not feeling well then. He said if worse, call or come back Friday. Called on way in to have protime checked last Friday (heart patient too), said I'm worse, either see me or I go to ER. Saw the pulmo dude asst, she said stay on O2 at 2 ltr for sitting and not doing anything, 3 ltr for walking around, 4 ltr for walking to car, etc. She scheduled " consultation appt " with her and pulmo dude for 2/25 when they are both there to review all my recent tests, CT scans, Gallium scans, etc with them. Do you remember when ny Carson did his Carnac the Magnificent routine, I feel like putting an envelope to my forehead with PF written on it, and them telling me what's wrong with me. I was tapering off prednisone with my rheumy, that got cranked up to 30 mg for 3 days, 20 mg for 3 days, call back Monday. I think I am starting to repeat from my rant yesterday, sorry. Mom back in hospital, cat wants food and attention, dog wants O.U.T. into the mud pit out back. OK done ranting for now. Thanks. Guest guest
Suzi, Please call your doctor TODAY. If you've had to your liter flow in the last day or so, something is definitely wrong and you need to be checked. Being in the house when all the painting and carpeting was going on was probably hard on your lungs but you can't guess at this, you need to get to the doctor and figure out what's going on. Guest guest
Suzi Paint and Carpeting would both cause potential problems. Do you have an oximeter? If not, you need one. Also, this is a place an incentive spirometer would tell a lot. You may need considerable outgassing done in your home from both the paint and the carpet, perhaps even more the carpet than paint. This would include open windows, extra vacuuming, all not done by you and preferably you not there or outdoors or something. Also your tapering or prednisone may be a bit too fast for you. Talk to the doctor. You've just thrown a lot at your system at a time you were reducing your meds. > > Air Family, I think I am very sick. 3 hours sleep, had paint and > carpeting done last 3 days.
