Guest guest
Many have both. It actually complicates even the sleep study too, because here are the possibilities. No Apnea, no shortage of oxygen when asleep.Apnea, requiring CPAP but no oxygen.Need for Oxygen but with proper oxygen no level of apnea requiring CPAP.Need for both CPAP and oxygen.Eveyone has a diminishing oxygen saturation when asleep due to the slower rates of breathing. However, this is different than the skips in breathing (and occasionally brain seizures) that would be associated with Apnea. But one can sometimes cause the other to appear to be a problem and the solution may be singular or dual. A complete sleep study for a PF patient should consist of no oxygen, oxygen and no CPAP, CPAP and CPAP with Oxygen if at each level an unresolved problem exists. Obviously if the problem is solved by one of the intermediate solutions then no reason to go further. However, the overnight oximeter or oxygen only portion is not a standard part of sleep study protocol for non PF patients. >> > [] Hello sorry have not written in a while>> I have a Question if any of you have sleep apena along with> IPF I just was tested for sleep apena and need to be fitted for a mask> along with feeling terrible everyday hardtime breathing very tired and> weak feeling lightheaded> all the time hard time concertrating and seeing along with everything I> have a family I have four boy"s that keep me going thanks denise c>
Guest guest
What is CPAP? Be aware that now that I am on O2 I do need the O2 at night, and here's a bleed-in device theyadded to my tubing.Interesting pearl I learned along the way: All peoplewith sleep apnea snore, but not all people who snore havesleep apnea.jon-- Two wrongs don't make a right, but two 's make an airplane. Guest guest
I have a CPAP nannd I hate it. I've had it for a year and I don't use it because I hate it! It stops me from rollig onto my left side and I just pull the mask off in th emiddle of thenight because my nnose gets stuffed up and I feel like I am suffocating. I had a mask that went over my mouth too but that was so horrid I used to wake up crying. Now I have one just over my nose but I have that thing that goes under the chin to stop your mouth from opening and I feel like I am going to die...and trying to get up to go to the bathroom in a hurry is a pain in the ass. Guest guest
C...yes, I have sleep apnea and use a cpap at night. My sleep study shows I stop breathing at night...many dozens of times in a minute. I use the blue gel petite mask, covers the nose only. I couldn't stand a cover over both nose and mouth. I sleep ever so much better with the cpap. In fact, I don't like to be without it now. Dependent? Yeah, I guess but it does really help. The great side effect is I do not snore now and I'm sure my husband likes that! Some of the symptoms may be due to lack of O2 during the day as well. There are different masks so if one doesn't "feel good" then try another. It takes some adjustment, I call my mask "My Snorkel". (+) teehee. MamaSher; 70, IPF 3-06, OR.
