just read your message on the website. I am going to see consultant next week.

I am hoping to go back to dance and excercise too. Not sure how much exercise I

can do in the meantime - don't want to make matters worse!

Hi Margaret,

I am a one year post op resurf Pilates and Fitness girl. I would like to

encourage you if you can to continue your PIlates work until the time you are

able to have the surgery to do so...It proved to add alot of longevity to my

crumbling structure and to my soul.

It also kept me ahead of recovery in terms of rehab ..I only saw a physical

therapist two times after the surgery and that was by their

recommendation...she told me I was doing fine by myself and gave me a few tips

and that was

it.....Last week I had a one year check up and was told that all was fine. I

do

have a bit of OA in the other hip now and that will be something to deal with

in the future but I always feel a alot better after moving the OA hip as

well...It is funny now that Im strong again on the resurf side it is leaving the

other hip in the dust..Anyway...I know the grief that overcomes one when we

start

giving up our activities for the pain..hang in there and know that it will

be better.

Hi, Margaret,

I know what you mean about not wanting to make matters worse. The sound

effects from my hip and the catching and snapping terrify me. I've decided

for now that taking ballet class is impossible. Too much compensation with

back, twisting out of good alignment, and then there's the problem that my

left leg just doesn't bear weight anymore, though it's happy enough to do

a developpe, tendus or a ronde de jambe. Sigh. I am having lunch with a

friend today instead of going to class. Will try to get a good walk in,

but I, too, am trying to figure out how to replace dance until I can get

something done about this hip. Good luck at your consult. I am seeing

local OS Monday, but it's only the first step along the road, since I then

will have to go elsewhere for resurfing. I hear from a friend that a few

resurfs have been done here, at Univ. of Mich. hospital, on a

compassionate use basis, but even if I could get that status, I don't want

to be operation No.4 or 5.

Keep in touch, on or offline.

Sue,

I stopped exercising 2 wks ago following very painful 10 days after " ripping the

lesions " as my chiropracter put it in a 2 1/2 hour dance session. Are you

suggesting that it will do no harm to do a fair amount of exercise for the

benefit of keeping up the muscle strength please?

Am seeing consultant for first time Wed of this week, thinking of taking it easy

til then and then following his advise. Takin it easy means office work 4 hours

a day, running the house, walking the dog etc.
