Guest guest
Hey,Surfers-- I had my surgery (left hip) on Feb 2nd and have moving right along with no set-backs or issues. THEN on this past Saturday, I traded in my automatic shift car for one that has a stick-shift. So all day Monday and Tuesday, I've been clutching my around these towns which have a zillion stop signs. Plus, I had the seat back far enough so that if the airbag deployed, I would be decapitated. Result: last evening my surfed leg had shooting, deep aching pains when I stepped down on it. PANIC! Then I remembered the clutch. So I've scooted the seat up and it's much, much easier on the leg. I mean, I was extending that leg to the max (who do they design these cars for?? Short bodied people with l-o-n-g legs??)Anyway, I'm leaning on the cane today because the muscles are really, really sore. I think it's the muscle which was cut? Has anyone else had this? How long does it take for this sutured muscle to heal, anyway? Joyce (Dr Gross, LHR, 2/2/04)

Joyce (Dr Gross, LHR, 2/2/04) Hi Retriever, I had the same type of setback at week 4 when I suddenly increased my daily walk from .8 miles to 1.5 miles and it took me to week 6 to get back to moving without pain. i just went back to using my crutches and too a few anti inflammatory pills. Just keep the pressure off it for a while and you'll be OK.
