Hi,

With regard to using sticks.......... I put off using a stick with my fused

hip situation for many a long year........... Later I found that really

wasn't in my best interest............ for sticks will stop a lot of the

rocking on the spine which does the damage to it..........

I wasn't wanting to use it because I usually felt okay and thought that

somehow it was a put on too - which I guess is possibly what you are also

trying to say...........there seems to be a part of many of us that doesn't

aways see that it is our own responsibility to be kind to ourselves come

what may or what it may look like to others........... So we tend to not do

the right thing by our bodies for most peculiar reasons.

Since my new hip I have not used the cane all that much.......... I

initially found I was fighting to find balance again in my body and using

the stick interferred with that process.......... Now I walk so well it

doesn't seem necessary..........I do feel though that I have lost most of

the feelings that it is not justified etc and at my age and health history

I am aware I will be back to it before too long............

Meanwhile I do the laps in the pool and try to get the back strong enough to

continue to cope with whatever the hips bring its way........
