No,It's clear enough so that we can come down now. But who really

wants to get out in this insane weather!! If I hadn't been forced to

go out this a.m. I would still be in bed.

I still have snow on my road and hill but came and took me to the

store after Steve made me promise to put on two pair of socks and long johns

top and bottoms and being the good girl I am I did and they still feel good

in the house so I am not pulling them off till bedtime The house got cold

this morning we had a power outage for about an hour and 15 minutes so I am

trying to warm this place up .I wore this very heavy Gap sweater I got at

the junk store and it is so nice and $3 was not a bad price

You could monitor your pulse and temps along the way as an added protection. I like to think that if you are stable... on your med this is something worth trying VERY carefully (starting out at smallest doses, even cutting the pills), keeping track of what you do. THERE are good reasons to try these things.. ie...You can see if the thryoid hormone gets into your cells more efficiently and it can make you feel a bit more perky. I

know for me...it makes me feel more WHOLE and helps my digestion, lose weight and sleep better. It sounds to me like your diet and eating schedules are very good and you have been diligent about attending to all the big things, so this may be worth a try. ~E:) . _Well_,_.W _,___ TOTAL-Thyroidectomy 26 months post-op.

Judy: Are the labs with the Armour -- Frees? It looks like you lost a smidge of ground on the t4 when you added the Armour and reduced the t4 pill, and it does look like your cortisol is dipping in the afternoon like I suspected, with my limited knowledge, it appears that EVERYTHING else is looking stellar:) Any headaches....? Brainfog...mood droopiness? Vertigo-ish-ness? If yes....to any of that, you could add a bit of t4 and a gentle adrenal support maybe? AFTER you have added the slight bit of t4, if you get aches...and LETHARGY.. (your t3 is not too high, so I don't see this as a big big possibility, but we don't really know where your set-point is)... you'll be tipped off that you've got too much Armour on board and you will have to peel back a bit. Keep

an eye out for that scenario. Okay? Perhaps someone else can provide a perspective for Judy on this too...so she can get another viewpoint to ponder.:) ~E:) Judy P wrote: Thanks E. Here are my labs if you don't mind having a look (or anyone else)...

Judy P wrote: I don't know . I'm so short fused these days and I'm just hot all the time. I was on Eltroxin 100mcg for 25 years or so. I can't say that I feel any better and I never had the rise and fall during the day. I'll see what my labs next week say and then I'll make my decision. It's been 3 months now, and I think that's long enough to look for improvement. I may get it for a day or two and then I'm back

to being more tired and cranky then I was before. My thyroid is underactive and will do some work on it's own if I don't overmedicate. Why is it that I didn't have the ups and downs on the levothyroxine. I started taking it and had steady improvement with a few dose increases until I was stabilized and stayed at that dose for over 25 years. I really wanted the Armour to by my miracle, but I don't feel any better and most days I feel worse. I still have a tough time justifying a full replacement dose just because Armour suppresses my TSH to the point where I can't get the most natural thyroid hormone of all - that produced by my own thyroid. I won't change

anything until my labs come back, and if I don't see any improvement in my T3 levels, then I may just go back on the levo. That's just what I'm thinking at the moment, but I'll discuss it with the doc as well... Judy . Hey Judy: Yeah...I know its been a not-so smooth ride into "Armour Land" for you. When you get your labs it would be interesting for you to post them. I wonder what your labs looked like when you were doing the plain t4 for so long and if you had a decrese in your t4 and that is why you are feeling so

good. "HOT" doesn't sound comfortable....in fact it sounds hyper....and the short fuse thing too and maybe the twitches too.:) Ooooh...it really doesn't sound pleasant. My heart goes out to your for trying the Armour..even though you were feeling pretty good before. Not easy....to figure it all out sometimes. ~E:) TOTAL-Thyroidectomy 26 months post-op.

Thanks E. Here are my last labs taken while on the 100mcg Levothyroxine.

TSH, 1.185 , (.350-5.50)

T4, 11.5 , (4.5-12)

T4 Free (Direct) , 1.50 , (0.61-1.76)

T3, 102 , (85-205)

Free Thyroxine Index , 3.8 , (1.2-4.9)

T3 Uptake , 33% , (24-39)

RT3 , 143 , (90-350)

TPO , <10 , (0-34)

Antithyroglobulin Ab , <20 , (0-40)

Here are my labs taken about 6 weeks after starting the Armour. I think I was at 2 grains when these labs were taken, but reduced shortly afterward and then went to the combination. My TSH went way down, but so did my Total T4 and my T3 went up just a smidge. For me, hardly worth the effort. It does make me a bit warmer, which most of the time is good, but it also makes it harder to lose weight for some reason. I think I'll stay on it over the holidays anyway, cause I'm going to Canada and I could use the warmth LOL!

TSH, .118 (.350-5.50)

T4, 10.1 , (4.5-12)

T3, 107 , (85-205)

Cortisol 4PM , 7.4, (3.1-22.4)

DHEA Sulfate , 114 , (26-200)

Hemoglobin Alc 5.0 (4.5-5.7)

Iodine 80 (40-92)

Glucose 86 (65-99)

I'll post my new labs when I get them in a couple of weeks and we can compare. Now I'm taking 50mcg Levo and 1 grain Armour. This morning I just took the Levo to see if I can stop this eye twitching... JudyP

Okay!!! You are soooo organized. Judy are if I remember correctly..you were adverse to splitting your Armour dose, and take it once daily? We'll dig into this a little more when you get the labs. At first blush...I see you did have a slight drop in your t4. While it "looks negligable"...your body may not think so. It is the t3 in the Armour that supresses the TSH here. (I think you already know that..) When I took 100 mcgs of t4 only ..I didn't have a suppressed TSH either. ~E:)Judy P wrote: Thanks E. Here are my last labs taken while on the 100mcg Levothyroxine.
