What a story. I really sympathize. Let's just hope they have the

correct diagnosis this time.

I can only hope (!) your hip arthritis was bad enough that you can

be gratified to have a good new hip in place and ready to pas de

deux with your soon to be reborn back.

I was just commisserating with a friend of mine over 8 years of

mis-diagnosed (and mis-treated) pains emanating down her

legs. It's just amazing how much trouble one can get in when a

symptom crosses specialties (neuro, ortho, gastro, etc.).

Good luck to you.

Dear Sheila,

That is so right. I often feel that we expect our doctors to be

magicians. These things are so complicated and difficult to get right.

It is often processes of trial and error that get us there in the end.

It is just that it is not easy to live through the trial and error when

one is in pain.

Tom-it sounds like you think you might not have needed your new hip?

Although your hip was clearly not the main the source of pain, I wonder

if you would have needed it in the end in any case if the arthritis was

pretty bad? How does one know..
