I had my mastectomy and oopherectomy on Nov. 1. As others have reported, the breast surgery is not so bad. I am still sore and tight on the right side, where lymph nodes were removed, and 99% normal on the left, which was prophylactic. A small miracle, they were able to remove the ovaries laparoscopically, which was not expected due to many previous abdominal surgeries. I must say, WOW, I can barely even feel it. The pathology report was very positive. My main tumor had been 5cm and after 4 rounds of AC, it was reduced to 3mm. One lymph node remained positive (3 had been found on original scan). My surgeon is happy with my healing. Drains were in for 6 days, what a pain. He said I need to wait a month before being fitted with a mastectomy bra. I was a little bummed about that, since I want to return to work before that, and feel a little odd about returning to work with no bra. I'm sure I'll get over it. Thanks to everyone for their wishes, prayers and support. I feel like another large obstacle has been overcome. More chemo, radiation and herceptin still to come. was stage III/ ER3+/PR3+/HER3+ - now I guess I am cancer free! dx 8/15/06 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ No virus found in this incoming message.
