Hey, Dany. I don't know these doctors you mentioned... But I have had the

resurfacing. Six weeks ago. What are your fears? This group can help with

that. Best, Joyce (Dr Gross, LHR, 2/2/04)

Dear Dany,

It is very normal to be scared. When I had my operation, everyone was

scared about it, and probably each person was scared about something

different. I guess I was most scared that I might not wake up from the

aesthetic. But I did, and so did everyone else on the ward, which

helped reassure me. I found it very helpful to talk about my fears to

my husband and my friends. I think Joyce asked you what you were most

afraid of, so do not hesitate to share your worries here.

I, of course, have heard of Addenbrookes, as, to me at least, it has a

reputation as a top quality teaching hospital getting all the Cambridge

med students. That is a lay reaction, however. Don't know how it has

done in the league tables. But teaching hospitals are usually very

good, in my experience, as they are always looking at what and how they

do it. I work in one.

As there are so many doctors doing resurfacing in England, unlike the

States, it is probably not concerning that no one may have heard

anything about your Dr. Villars.

my appointment

Hello everyone.

I am member here and reading from few time all, but never write so

far. Now I have appointment with Dr. Villar in Addenbrooke's Hospital

on 7 of April and after all this long time / I told my Gp about this

resurfacing, she needed time to see what is all this about and to

understand why I refuse to the local surgeon to make me replacement,

ect/ - I am so so so scared, its unbeliavable...

In some moments I even think - I will not go...

Anyway- if someone knows something about this Doctor and Hospital-

pls, let me know.

Thank you so mvery much about this group and all the rest...I am

really happy , that i have you.

Hi Dany

Mr Villar has his own website http://www.richardvillar.com/. He seems

to be a very experienced surgeon. He has also had a book published

about hip and knee surgery.

He certainly does resurfacing, but by the sound of his website he is

at the cautious (rather than sceptical) end of the spectrum on it.

His worries are about the relatively short history and possible

complications on revision.

It will be interesting to see what he recommends for you. I seem to

recall that his site was more sceptical about resurfacing a couple of

years ago.

Regards,

Vale

Rt BHR Nov 1999, Mr McMinn.
