Guest guest
I think you are right Barbara about requesting that the Tcoil be turned on. When my son got his aids he was only 10 weeks and the audiologist said she was going to deactivate it that we could change that when he got older. He is now 19 months and we have not yet done that. Can anyone with a older child tell me/us exact ally what the phone sounds like with the aid on microphone vs. the aid on tcoil? My son says hi to his dad on the phone and that is about it because of his age, but I wonder if I should have it activated. Thanks

Guest guest
Hi Cora, I've listened to the t-coil on the hearing aid with the help of her stethoset. The difference seems to be that with the aid on tcoil all of the background noise is eliminated and the voice comes right to her ear. The clarity of the voice doesn't seem to differ too much. is 6 and sometimes just talks on the phone without switching it, and then other times she will switch it to tcoil. She seems to be able to carry on a phone conversation either way. I use the t coil for the captioned phone and the reg setting for the speaker phone. Using the t coil cancels out all the background noise, including my kids talking and the dog barking. This way, I can concentrate on the voice coming in through the phone. When suing his older analog aids, all background sound was cut out. With his new digitals, they allow the background noise to be heard at the same time the voice is being piped into his head. The voice is louder, like with the FM, but he can also hear the background sounds. Guess it depends on the aids. One thing is consistent, I guess -- the speaker on the phone is louder than the rest of what he hears. Best -- Jill

Of course, now the kids try to use ASL to get my attention while I'm on the phone. Talk about a headache! --------------------------------- Yahoo! Photos Got holiday prints?
