Guest guest
Ken, I don't know much about epidurals, other than a large needle is treading waters about the spinal column. I took the general (gas mask induced) and suffered no ill effects afterwards. You will be given an explanation of each by Dr. Mont's anesthetist. When I came out of the recovery room, I was chatty but lucid. Excited that I got the device and that I was on the road to recovery. No " hangover " from the anesthesia. People can react differently to the same anesthesia. That's why you will be questioned ad nauseum about reactions and allergies. I was indifferent, except I did not want to be " awake " and did not like the idea of a needle near my spinal column. You ae given an IV relaxant anyway, before the anesthesia. Good luck. You'll do fine. Fred Connecticut Rt. Guest guest
I had decided to have the spinal but when the time came there was a problem as it did not work in the right areas so I then also had a general. It really left me feeling spaced out for weeks but it was ideal for pain management! I believe its likely you will make a quicker recovery with a spinal and although mine went wrong, just plain bad luck, the final outcome was good. Hope this helps.
