Guest guest
Hi Sorry to hear about your hip / back etc (!) problems. You've probably already figured out that there's no simple answer to many of your questions. Things like recovery time depend on so many things. I would make one point though. One of the major factors determining the amount of time on crutches etc is the condition of your joint prior to surgery. Folks with straightfoward resurfacings often start rehab straight away and are playing badminton in 3 months. If it's more complex it will take longer. I waited far too long for the op (18 months too long according to OS)and needed many bone grafts under the implant and had to wait 8 weeks before I could put any weight at all on the hip - followed by several more months working from crutches to sticks etc. There's also a slightly higher risk of failure for complex jobs. Related to surgeon skill as well - but that's another story. So my advice would be to extract copies of your films from those fibre optics (they only cost £15 or so in the UK) and send to a good resurfacing surgeon so at least you'll know what your options are and how long you can afford to wait. Incidentally, I don't ride a motorbike any more (like cars better!) but I did get my mountain bike seriously muddy recently on some very steep and bumpy tracks. These resurfacings really do work.
