Hi Eleanor, Sunita and Lari

Well, two weeks today and I should be on the other side - for the

second time!! I have to smile at myself - I sit at this screen

feeling so much sympathy for what the three of you are going through -

and then I go to bed and pick up the book that I am trying to learn

relaxation and visualisation from - to reduce my panic - so that I

can go through it all again!! Last time I was (am) one of the slow

healers too.

Big hugs to you.

Hi ine

I hope this time you won't be part of the club " slow healers " (I think we should

call it something else like " smart healers " ...). I am aslo looking at a second

one (BHR) in some future not too close but not too far either. I don't really

know what is best in term of timing. How did you come up with this date ine?

did you wait to feel really good or did you wait for the memories to have faded

away enough??? and I forgot where you are operated?

today is a good day so I am looking at life again with hope. Don't despair Lari,

it will get better but try to take it easy. I know family life looks so

important but ultimately your health is the most important thing for everyone in

the family.

take care and stay in touch ine in this period of trial...

Dear ine,

Two weeks to go---no wonder you are feeling as you do. I wondered if

the fear (in my case) would be any less is I had to go through it again,

but I guess the answer is no.

I was on an open ward for my op, and certainly everyone on the ward was

always fearful or panicky going down to the op. Encouragement and best

wishes were called out as each one of us was trundled down to the

operating theatre, and you knew that they came from people who knew what

it was all about. Relaxation and visualisation sound good. It helped

me to know that everyone during my stay in the hospital, came back alive

(at the bottom line, I was afraid of not waking up from the operation).

And if I had to have it again, I guess the fact that I survived it would

be useful. I know that has helped me in the past with other panicky

situations----‘I’ve been through this before, and have come out the

other end, and know that somewhere I have the skills to manage it

again’.

Sometime ago, I think I remember reading a posting on the Comet website

about a person who had had two hips done at different times and had had

completely different recovery processes with each one. So----there is

always hope this hip will not be such a slow one……..

Many many hugs back,

Eleanor
