Guest guest Posted April 18, 2005 Report Share Posted April 18, 2005 Someone was asking about cupping last week. I just got back from an accupuncture appt today. I asked my doctor about cupping. As it turns out, I have already had cupping but I didn't know what it was called at the time. My dr told me it is mainly used to treat pain. I was having lower back pain. I had some pain in my shoulder today and used the treatment on me. Used in conjunction with a Chinese herb rub, my shoulder feels much better. Cupping is a treatment where suction is used. She places 4 or five rubber cup like instruments and uses an instrument like on the end of a blood pressure cuff to create the suction. It seemed to help my back.
