Guest guest
I don't know why you are craving it. I have always been a coffee lover and now I just drink decaf because it works the best with me and I have also learned that the caffeine will dehydrate you as well. Lin Lhsh@... American by birth, Saved by the grace of God. I have a Question about Coffee I had my surgery in April, 2004. I was not a big coffee drinker prior to the surgery, although, I drank Cappucino and French Vanilla Coffee as a treat (Like 3-4 times a month). But since about a year after my surgery I am finding that I am loving coffee. My best friend had the surgery a year prior to mine and is having the same issue. Matter of fact her addiction is a bit more intense. I was just wondering if there was any information behind why we are craving coffee. We have found that others in the support group at the hospital are frequent coffe drinkers. We understand that coffee is not good for the staples in our stomachs which is why we are very concerned. Can someone help us? Thanks, Steph -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
I love chilled doubble espresso with cream in the afternoon. I will clean the house like mad woman. Fun stuff. Pre surgery I never drank coffee. But now I buy it by the case. Sincerely,

Guest guest
Weird. I'm about 10 months out and I like coffee but I can take it or leave it. I might have a non-fat latte once a month. Maybe it's the bitter taste buds. They and the sweet ones are the most intense I think. I would think you could get some other bitter alternatives from food that doesn't have calories or caffiene. At the least you could drink decaf like I do. I haven't heard that coffee isn't good for staples. I was under the impression, too, that my surgeon performs some sort of fusion of the pouch so as not to have to use staples and have the potential issues with them. I'll check on that though. Guest guest
Ya know...I was never a coffee drinker before surgery. I had a cup of coffee Sunday night on the way to GA to try to stay awake. Ever since then I've been craving it. The caffeine didn't affect me. I've just been craving the taste! Guest guest
As I read your post I almost spit out my French Vanilla Cappucino in laughter....lol. That is just how I feel these days. But I am cutting back. I am just baffled that I was not a coffee lover until after the surgery. I am going to do more research in this because I know it is not just about food addiction. It has to do with the coffee itself. Thanks to everyone for sharing. > >> I had my surgery in April, 2004. Guest guest
It would? Why? I would think some counseling might be in order to treat any addiction and that as part of the therapy you'd receive some advice towards not migrating to other addictions. I don't buy the mindset that working on lessening an addiction, to food or anything else, automatically makes one susceptible to another addiction. I'd like to see some studies that refute that.
