I will definitely be lifting you up in prayer tomorrow and asking God to guide the doctor's hands. Please let us know when you can how it went. God bless you! Guest guest
Thanks Debbie and I've been lucky to avoid that procedure so far, so I don't mind. Most hemodialysis patients end up having to have that done sometime. A stenosis is just a narrowing of the vein. In my case, it's almost like a kink in the vein above the fistula. I could see it plainly myself on the monitor when they did the fistulagram. It gives me a break from setting up and running my own dialysis treatment tomorrow. Guest guest
Thanks Ray, I'm supposed to show up at the radiology department at 10am (my time zone is the same as New York). How much time will be spent warming the bench first is an open question. Just knowing you will be thinking of me and praying will be immensely helpful. Guest guest
Hi Pierre, I don't know if you'll catch this before tomorrow, but all the best with the angiogram. had one, but my memory of it is fuzzy. He was in the hospital for the better part of 10-12 hours and was released the same day. The big concern was (not like renal biopsy) staying still afterwards and avoiding dislodging the clot. was pretty beat for a few days after, but he also had a very bad cold at the time. I hope this goes easily. Guest guest
Thanks for your good wishes, everyone. As I said in another post, it's just an angioplasty and possible stenting of the narrowing at the veinous outflow end of my fistula. It's similar in concept to an angioplasty for the coronary arteries, but, it's not in the same league as that. Angioplasty for repair of fistulas are extremely common among dialysis patients. In fact, I'll probably see other patients I know while I'm there. I'm not particularly looking forward to it, but, the hardest part will probably be finding a parking space at the hospital, which is never an easy task in mid-morning. Talk to you all later.
