Guest guest
Hi, Well guys so sad for you all doing the waiting game............especially when it seems resurfacing is going ahead in leaps and bounds here in Australia. I just went to see my OS and had a little chat......... He was almost as excited about my progress as I am....... and believe me after walking for hours on pavement, catching trains, planes and buses in a way I have not been able to do for years, I am pretty excited.......... Anyway he said that Resurfacing is becoming very popular in Australia now..........even the regional doctors are getting in on the act as patients vote with their hips. We now have 4 Resurface devices to select from in Australia - imagine how the debate will be in a couple of years folks......... instead of arguing over a THR v Resurface it will be which one out of at least 4...........smile. He says he expects a plastic one soon......... in his words 'for if the plastic used in a THR is as good as they say it is then there is no reason it shouldn't be used for a Resurface prothesis'......... He also commented that from observation the failures coming to light, at least here, seem to result mostly from hitting the prothesis onto the femur head with just a bit too much enthusiam causing a crack.......... So here again is that experience issue....... and finding a surgeon with a light but firm touch.......... Yes, it is sad, I had to stifle a cough when our President said something in the State of the Union address about the US having the best medical care in the world. Congrats on the great check-up. Speaking of leaps and bounds, thanks to the Aussies for sending Bogut to the U of Utah. We'll lend him back to the Boomers this summer >I just went to see my OS and had a little chat......... I had heard about such problems cropping up in Europe with some surgeons new to resurfacing. -
