Guest guest
Dear Amora, I am unclear---is the hospital in Cambridge, England? What is its name? Do you live in the UK? Would you be having the operation on the NHS or privately? One would guess most surgeons in England who do this would be pretty good. Am not sure how you tell. I had my operation at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital at Stanmore (near London) in England. Several of the consultants there do resurfacing. For women, they are very careful to make sure your bone density is adequate as apparently there have recently been some fractures of the neck of the femur after resurfacing if the bone density is not good enough. Eleanor in Cambrige,UK-any feedback? Hello all, Well, after all-they deside to send me to Hospital in Cambrige, where will see whats going on...I am happy i was not agree to make me hip replacement, when i talk with my local surgeon / which make him not happy.../ and finaly my GP find this hospital in Cambrige, where they can probably make this resurfacing. Any feedback of this hospital? Surgeons,anything-anybody-if know- pls, tell me more. I am complitely alone, even my GP didnt knew about this resurfacing and use a lot of time to find who is our local surgeon doing this!!! All was result of my personal investigation on the net... So-anybody-anything...thank you... amora
Guest guest
Hi Amora Go for it - thousands are now being done in the UK every year. You'll wonder at the outcome. Don't dig too deeply on the internet without reading views on this site first. What I mean by that is that there are very negative people sending very negative vibes. You don't get that from people who have had resurfacing however. I was lucky in that my GP in a Staffordshire village practise had already had a patient who had been resurfaced - he didn't put me forward for it; that was the OS I saw at Stafford who didn't do it but recommended I consider it as I have Parkinson's and my age (52 at the time). He referred me to Ronan Treacy at the Birmingham Royal Orthopaedic Hospital. I think a surgeon I met about a year ago in a follow up at Birmingham was from an hospital at Cambridge - he was in his mid 30's going for training on BHR's - really nice guy who took time to ensure everything was going OK and answered my questions in a manner that left me feeling totally at ease. The best advice is to go and see your OS and if you feel happy with him, which I'm sure you will, go for it in Cambrige,UK-any feedback?
