Not worried about a TSh of 2.9?? A TSH of 2.9 is HYPO!!!!!........also

where are the FREE T3 and FREE T4.the other tests don't mean much, he hasn

t even ordered the right tests!

-------Original Message-------

From: Mikki Behnke

I got my lab results but I haven't talked to the endo about them because I

looked them up myself :)

T3 - 91 ng/dl

T4 - 6 ug/dl

FTI - 8 ug/dl

TSH 0 2.82

T4 uptake - 38.4%

I haven't been able to find anything on the T uptake but it's a little high

(normal range is up to 37%) ... Everything I've found on the web referred to

radioactive iodine uptake, but you ladies have a lot of experience with

these tests so I thought I'd ask here so I'm educated before I talk to the

doc tomorrow!

His take on it this morning seemed to be that I have a " constellation of

suggestive symptoms " (inability to lose weight, borderline depression, heavy

periods with bad PMS, arthritis worsening, mental fog and forgetfulness so I

m probably forgetting part of what we talked about ;) .... And that he wasn

t majorly concerned about a TSH of 2.9 so wanted to see the other test

results first.

Any helpful interpretation is appreciated!!! :)

RAnges?? These labs make more sense if you give the ranges..

Something like TSH 2.82( 03.-3) , also do yo uknow if your T4 and T3

are free's?

You have some antiquated and useless results. BAD-BAD endo. AND...that THS is killer. I think someone needs a new doc.:) Try and contact a Holistic doc or a Naturepath. Someone a little "unconventional" would be your best bet. ~E:) Meleese wrote: Behnke And that he wasnt majorly concerned about a TSH of 2.9 so wanted to see the other

Well he claimed he can calculate the free T3 and free T4 from the FTI and uptake, but I don't know the formulas ... BUT... from my reading on the web and the little I've picked up from you ladies thus far, I think that he represents the "old school" thinking that you all have been through on your search to actually FEEL BETTER ... he told me that the TSH *is* the best test, it's just that there is a grey area where people disagree on the importance of a TSH between 2.5 and 5 ... and he thinks that body temperature means nothing ... so... I'm thinking that I need to take my little lab tests and move on so someone a bit more holistic!!!

I spoke with one of the nurses I work with and he says that everything is pointing to "borderline" hypo, but that the T Uptake being high may mean that the supplement that I've been taking for a week is actually working ... I know that I feel better and my morning temps jumped from 95.9 on Tuesday to 98.1 yesterday and 97.9 today (they have NEVER been that high!), and yesterday I was able to do a 90 minute cardio session for the first time in months.

I'm beginning to think that maybe my problem is more that I've always been borderline hypo in the sense that when my nutritional status is good it functions adequately, but if I get depleted of the stuff that a thyroid wants - B12, iodine, selenium, etc - then I start showing the hypo symptoms again. I can believe that I've been depleted of a whole LOT of things having twins LOL. (I don't know if I mentioned but in 12 years I had 10 pregnancies, 3 successful and 7 miscarriages - that' a little rough on the old hormone system!)

Hey, no one would be happier than I would to learn that I don't have "thyroid disease" as opposed to just needing to be aware of my nutritional status - I want the RIGHT answer, not be told to go away because some lab value isn't "quite high enough"...

Mikki: YES...I know one gets the idea that if you see the BEST...TOP Experts at the Universities...you will get the best care. When it comes to the endocrine system its not true unfortunately. ITS surpising...its disheartening. I've done the rounds in state and out of state...and unfortunately the higher I went in terms of credentials...the less informed and more rigidly dogmatic the docs became. THEY were very nice...just not so helpful. I found a hormone specialist woman who isn't provies bio-dentical hormone care for folks. She runs my bloods and give me my pills without argument. I also found an Endo that doesn't mess with me...but that took a long time. Two whole years to find him.:) That calculating

E—your T3F is over range. Do you feel hyper? Your T3F is also at max and your TSH almost zero...

Do you feel you are on correct doses?

My results just came in very similar to yours and I was thinking I was on too much T3...

What do you take/how much/do you think it’s correct dose for you?

Thanks in advance,

Sue

LOL yup. He is supposed to call and discuss the results with me but I'm pretty sure I know what he is going to say!!! I did find an osteopathic doc in my area recommended on one of the "find the best thryoid doctor" websites, and have set up an appointment with him , it is not until July 26 so for now I'll just keep taking my "Thyroid Formula" ... hey at least my body temps are normal with this stuff and even the fancy-shmancy endocrinologist said it "wouldn't hurt" to take it :)

thanks for all your supportive words ladies!! otherwise I would have been a little intimidated by all this!

I've never had a thyroid test less than 2.0, all I ask for is the opportunity to see what it feels like when I have a low TSH!! It just pisses me off sometimes that doctors are the arrogant gatekeepers to such a safe, simple solution!!!!!!!!!

again, thank you so much for helping me realize that this guy isn't the end of the road in my search for answers, I was *almost* taken in by all his fancy credentials...
