You aren't going to believe this...Blue Shield of California just

sent me a check for $6,243.81 for my resurfacing in Belgium! Last

November, I spent $240 to have all the doctor bills and hospital

forms translated into English (at their request), then sent in

whatever other documents they wanted, and today, there was a check

in the mail! It was effortless...no denials, no appeals...and,

there could be more coming because I was told the charges were being

divided and reviewed in two parts. I'm so grateful for this,

anything else would just be icing.

I must say I feel somewhat vindicated because I pay Blue Shield

$642/mo, plus a $1500 deductible...although with all I've been

through the last 3 years, I've gotten my money's worth from them and

then some. I just hope I never have to use them again like that for

the rest of my life.

Last November was my one year anniversary and Dr. De Smet had

nothing but rave reviews for my hip xrays. I'm playing lots of

tennis, biking, doing aerobics, and even occasionally doing the

hula! I love it! A big thank you goes to God and to the many who

supported me on this website.

My very best to you all, Donna Goodley LBHR 11/13/02 DE SMET

Why did you choose to go to Belgium instead of having it down in

California and would not BCBS pay for your surgery in California?---

After doing a lot of research, reading and hearing testimonials, and

listening to my intuition, I decided the BHR and Dr. De Smet were

the best answers for me. Since there is no guarantee the insurance

company will pay for resurfacing, especially in California and

especially BCBS, I just figured it was a lot better to be out of

pocket $9,500 (Belgium) than $35,000 (US). (My surgery cost was

actually closer to $9,000 because Dr. De Smet sent me a refund of a

few hundred dollars.)

Hope this answers your questions. Also feel free to contact me

directly.
