I spend way too much time messing with empty capsules and various powders. I was wondering whether I could order a supplement/chelator mixture from a compounding pharmacist -- some Vit C and B, zinc and selenium, etc. Or would that be really expensive to have done? Not answering your question, sorry. Just wondering how to make the process less time-consuming. Nell
Guest guest
Our DMPS/ALA is compounded with powdered vitamin C. --Lissy [ ] Looking for the safest DMSA capsule filler We are going to order 25-mg DMSA capsules in a local compounding pharmacy. (Previously, before we got a 25-mg prescription, we would order 100-mg capsules from VRP, and then pour them out into 4 25-mg capsules.) Those 100-mg VRP capsules are pure DMSA, but with 25 mg, the pharmacist says they need to add a filler. Does anyone know what would the safest filler for DMSA be? The pharmacy's options include lactose (but we have some milk intolerance), avecil (a.k.a. microcristalline cellulose), and stevia. Please advise. Thanks, Igor =======================================================
Guest guest
We had our pharmacy add the ALA as a filler and now we have everything we need in one capsule. So our capsules are 20 MG DMSA and 20 MG ALA on single dose per capsule. They only need to add enough in order to weigh it on their scales. Compounded stuff does cost more than " off the shelf " , but it is up to you if it is worth it. There are a couple of compounding pharmacies here: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_buy_DMSA.html You may want to find local ones, though. I know that the pharmacist I talked to at Apotocary Labs is very experienced with supplements for ASD. Oh -- and some (most?) compounding pharmacies require a perscription for ANYTHING compounded--- such as vitamins! So be sure to ask about that -- and figure in the price of getting an Rx.
