Thanks everyone for the well wishes. These biopsies were done to confirm my dermatomyositis diagnosis. Though my doctors are confident of my diagnosis based on my bloodwork (CK and aldolase levels and the presence of the jo-1 antibody.) The diagnosis needs to be confirmed to proceed with treatment and even to decide on the type of treatment.

They numbed the area on my hand for the skin biopsy and my arm for the muscle biopsy. The skin was nothing, just a small snip of the worst part of the rash and then some neosporin and a bandaid. The muscle biopsy was a small incision on my upper arm (while my arm was immobilized with a plastic contraption) and after some tugging and pulling, another snip and then a couple of stiches and I was on my way. The lidocaine is wearing off, it's a little sore but I don't think it's anything that some ibuprofen won't handle.

I should have the results by the middle of next week.
