Guest guest
We waited two weeks to get my estrogen/progesterone results. The oncologist was annoyed, and said that it boiled down to money. He stated that the reagent used to develope the test results was very expensive, and that a control as well as samples had to be run, so the lab waited until they had a bunch of samples to do before they ran any tests. Expense has been a reoccurent reason for not doing things the way I'd like them to be done. I get this explanation constantly from the hospital that we use. For example: I asked for a laproscopic hysterecectomy rather than an abdominal one. I was told, by the doctor, that the procedure was " too expensive " . Finally gave up after my gyn also expressed concern over her ability to do it well. Turns out she should have expressed concern over her ability to do any hysterectomy well; in the end, I wound up with an incisional hernia 6 months later and the insurance company had to pay for another surgery. We have reasonably good insurance; the money coming out of our pocket is not the issue. But I am getting the firm impression that the doctors and hospitals are being pressured not to spend too much. Guest guest
I think you are on the money about the ins. trying to cut cost I feel like I am getting an invaluable lesson in from this group of what to ask for in the way of testing and what to ask the Dr. in fact when I questioned the nurse this week after not getting my biopsy she said they do not order the sterotacic because it does cost more so they didn't listen when I told them the ultrasound tech said they would not be able to do a fine needle , the waiting game .I hope everyone has as good of weekend as possible.I am going to start a new quilt.
