Based on resistance it is designed to make your lungs work harder. I got

one of these in respiratory rehab along with an incentive spirometer.

There are six different settings to adjust the resistance it provides

you.

If a doctor prescribes, insurance normally would pay, although most of

the time it either comes from a hospital stay or respiratory rehab. I

forget where I sent her for hers or she may have gotten it from her

oxygen supplier. I'll try to look and may Sharon will let us know and

make up for my oxygen deprivation.

I use the lung exerciser they had me use after the biopsy. I get them at Allegro Medical for $7.95 . My last one lasted for two years. Is this the same principle as the respironics or do you think the respironics is superior? Thanks-

Thats one of the two things I use...thats the incentive spirometer, but

there is also a small device I use too.

Sounds to me like i could use one of this, do you need a prescription to get one? could anybody use it? how do I know if I need one? I know nothing about respiratory rehab, my pulmo hasn;'t mentioned it.

You do not need a prescription. Talk to your doctor. Also, talk to your

doctor about respiratory rehab. It can be of great benefit. I don't know

why doctors don't automatically recommend it and have to be asked.
