Guest guest
Hi Ginny, I just joined the group yesterday. I am starting my 3rd week of weight watchers today. AS far as low cal drinks I fix myself fresh lemonaid and drink every day. you can get stevia extract (bulk is cheaper) at the health food store and make it with that. I use an old fashioned hand juicer and squeeze 1 lemon in a 1 liter rubbermaid bottle and then sprinkle in stevia to taste and add water....you can add as much water as you want to water it down if the lemon is too acidy. I avoid aspartame like the plauge, and Diet Rite has splenda instead of aspartame, but splenda is made by putting extra chlorine in sugar molecules and it gives me welts so I don't have that too often. bye cindy Ginny wrote: BlankI'm hoping that some of you have some ideas for me. I'm allergic to aspartame and most artificial sweetners. I can tolerate Splenda but the drinks that I've found that contain it also contain a combination of artificial sweetners. I love V8 but I have to limit it because of the high salt content and the low sodium version is awful. I drink water, seltzer when I'm looking for carbonation and skim milk. What else can you suggest other than coffee and tea for other low point beverages that don't contain artificial sweetners. Thanks for your help. Guest guest
I love the Hot Cider Mix that is found over by the hot chocolate mixes......has real sugar and 80 cal. for a 2 pt drink. I know some might think that 2pts is a lot, but when artificial sweeteners make me sick and I am tired of coffee/water it's a nice treat to have on hand. I also like hot lemonade (just make regular lemonade and heat) this is great when I am sick. I sometimes make a hot cup of chicken/beef bullion and I 'think' that is -0- pts?? Not sure. And on Sundays I always treat myself to a can of soda of my choice for 3 pts., if it's been a not so great week I will split one with my dh for 1.5 pts. Guest guest
I like to drink water with key limes. 1 whole key lime is just perfect to add some flavor to a big glass of water. Guest guest
I like to use the Torani or Davinci Sugar Free Syrups. They are made with Splenda. I use a variety of different flavors for different beverages. For instance, I'll brew chai tea or peppermint tea and add vanilla syrup and milk to them for a soothing hot drink. For cold, I'll add mango syrup or some other fruit flavor to soda water or iced tea. I also use them every day in my coffee, with skim milk, instead of flavored creamers. ( I check the Starbucks menu for flavor combination ideas). I buy the Torani syrups at Smart 'n Final for aobut $4 for a 750 ml. bottle. Can't beat that price. But they don't have as many flavors as I like, so I also buy some on Ebay. I find an auction that allows me to buy a dozen bottles for about $70, mix 'n match, of the many varieties of SF Torani and Davinci syrups (some of my current favorite flavors are Peppermint Paddy and Gingerbread, mimic-ing some popular winter flavors at Starbucks.) I AM abit addicted to the stuff. If you come to my house right now, you'll find about 20 different varieties available. I also use them in baking. I make a great assortment of sugar-free desserts with them, since you can cook with Splenda. Cindi

Guest guest
I've never heard of those. I'll have to do some research to see if I can find them here. Guest guest
I love Diet Rite Cola. It is Zero Points, Zero Carbs, Zero Caffiene, Zero Sodium, and is made with Splenda. My local Walmart has recently started carrying the 12-packs. Diet Rite also comes in Tangerine, White Grape, Raspberry, and Black Cherry. ~Kittie~ >I'm looking for carbonation and skim milk. > What else can you suggest other than coffee and tea for other low point > beverages that don't contain artificial sweetners. > > Thanks for your help. > Ginny > 260-186-129 > Goal for 2004 380 Pages > Completed 476 > > > >
Guest guest
Thanks I'll check it out when I go to Walmart today. Most of the sodas that have Splenda also have a combination of other artificial sweetners near the end of the ingredients list and those are the ones I'm allergic too. Here's hoping : ) Ginny 260-186-129 Goal for 2004 380 Pages Completed 485 Re: Looking for Lo Point Beverages I love Diet Rite Cola.
