Guest guest
Hi Listmates: OK... another poop question. What does black grainy (like sand) poop mean? This is NOT my ASD child but my NT one. I do not think it is blood in stool and it is much softer than normal. She is the queen of normal poops. No diet changes that I know of either. I'm stumped on this one... can't find it on the website I usually refer to either. Thanks for any insight. Blessings,
Guest guest
Well in my son it meant he ate sand. Blood that has been digested (i.e. from the stomach) generally looks like coffee grounds, or tar. Blood from the lower GI tract will be red. She could be getting sick. Watch her tomorrow for other symptoms. If it continues I'd take a sample in to the dr. Good luck, hth. -Sara.
Guest guest
Some believe this is yeast and/or yeast die-off. Whether it is the actual critter or something the yeast gives off I do not know. It does seem to correlate with increased behavioral symptoms in my daughter and seems to show up cyclically--which would go along with it being linked to some stage of yeast or other gut flora. Did your NT daughter have a high sugar/junk food type day in the last couple of weeks? --Lissy -- In , " adoptinggrace " <adoptinggrace@m...> wrote: > Hi Listmates: OK... another poop question. Guest guest
My son had the same black sand like specks in his BM after starting nystatin and then it reappears when nystatin is increased. Guest guest
Hi Lissy and thanks for replying. Actually my NT daughter doesn't eat sweets at all and has never had junk food.. won't even eat Mc's stuff I discovered when we moved this week-end and I picked up french fries for the first time. She hasn't had diet changes at all ... she eats green beans, a little ham, fruits and veggies and oatmeal for breakfast uaually. She drinks only water. She seems to feel just fine and I'm waiting to see what today's poop looks like. She doesn't have signs of yeast in behavior or otherwise so I'm just stumped. If it is still this way for another day or so, I'll have to head to the doc with stool sample I guess. Thanks and any other ideas are welcome!
