Guest guest
Hi, Ah .........excuse me but I don't really appreciate being told that my stereotyped views are offensive, if not ignorant as a blanket statement when supposed views are not listed............ or information given about why my particular views are stereotype etc........... In doing as you have you yourself are simply doing what you accuse me and others of doing............i.e. making general statements without any evidence............ I am not an American and I have not expressed any opinions about the 'majority of Amercian OS's' here or elsewhere. Thank you............ Guest guest
Well said, Edith. It seems to me that when the consistent experience of users of this forum is that of encountering orthopaedic surgeons who are extremely negative towards resurfing, then a conclusion can be extrapolated from that. To whit, that we all should be warned that we are likely to encounter the same attitude, and that we should not be put off by it. Forewarned is.....It certainly applied here in Canada as well and I thank people here for preparing me for that negative reception and to not be discouraged by it. Guest guest
I am just starting to investigate having THR. I hope I don't run into many OSs of this type. I give no slack to the biased opinions of most of our Ortho surgeons. I just emailed a very fine, head of University Medical staff, ortho in CA. I queried him about my father-in-law who has had two THR's and now needs another. This patient believes whatever a Doc tells him, and has already seen this Doc for a revision. So I was just checking to see what devices this OS uses without using father-in-laws name. Father-in-laws first THR (13 yrs ago) kept dislocating- replaced in 2-3 yrs (perhaps not put in right or a bad device?) The 2nd one is now loose after almost 10 years (osteolysis -right on time?). The patient believes " He did too much " . He is only 68, and active in fishing, gardening, doesn't sit around, but isn't doing marathlon running! This could be his last chance for a revision. What device chosen for this surgery is critical to his life quality. This influencial teaching surgeon felt my asking about the MoM THR or a THR/poly with metal liner was " very controversal " and wouldn't discuss it over the internet. He chooses the " standard " THR with " new poly " for a variety of reasons.....end of story. No consideration for the fact that this patient could be in a wheel chair before the end of his life without a hip. This patient has proven to react to Poly debris! A MoM device would most likely see him through the rest of his life. He's had enough pain already! GRRRRRRR. I can't give any slack to OSs that are not looking at the technolgy available to help their patients! (Don't get me started on Insurance cos!) Whew Thanks for letting me blow steam!!!!!
