Guest guest
FAO Joe (joey94568) Joe I've been following this conversation and correspondence with keen interest as a prospective UK patient waiting on a date for a resurfacing intervention in the UK. I must say that I find your OPINIONS unreasonable, unproven (as opinions usually are) and unrepresentative. However, I find your STYLE of correspondence and your MANNERS and ETIQUETTE offensive and lacking in grace. I am not trying to defend Edith and Sharry - I am sure they can do a much better job themselves - I just think this site should not be used in such a OFFENSIVE and hurtful way. You could have politely disagreed with others who do not share your views without resorting to personal insults. By the way, as a non-USA member of this group, I can assure you that my OPINION of the majority of American OS's approach to resurfacing is very similar to that expressed by Edith and Sharry. However, these opinions were formed before I read their posts and are a result of avidly reading all posts for more than 12 months now. So, if it walks like a duck, if it quacks like a duck, if it looks like a duck - it probably is a duck. Your angry notes failed to convince me otherwise. Regards Dan Milosevic Re: Not all US Orthopedic Surgeons are idiots! Dear Edith and Sharry, Edith, if I have offended you, GREAT! The fact that you haven't given the reason your views are stereotyped is irrelevnt - the fact that they are stereotyped for what are likely personal reasons, is sufficient ignorance when placed on this board which is intended to give meaningful information to prospective resurfacers. Sharry please read my response to Edith which offended her - it applies equally well to you. Edith, yes you did make the comment " majority of American OS's. " For you and Sharry to draw a universal conclusion regarding American OS's just from the postings on this website, is absurd. Sharry, if you feel it is acceptable to draw such a concluion just from the postings on this website, I hope that you never join an extremest group - you'd be a likely candidate for following the actions dictated by mass histeria. And if labeling the majority of American OS's as being opposed to resurfacing just because of the postings on this website is not stereotypying, then please ladies tell me what it is - for surely you can't consider your OPINIONS to be fact just because of people (relatively few, unless you have been keeping count and have numbers you can provide) vocalizing bad experiences! Bottom line: your labeling is stereotyping, it is unfair, and it is inappropriate advice to those new to this site. You may wish to warn people that there are OS's who do not favor or support resurfacing, and that these prospective resurfacers should not rely entirley on the opinions of these OS's - it is a much more reasonable and appropriate action. I would also suggest that both of you as well as those so opposed to American OS's read Trautman's recent posting of LOGICAL REASONS why there may be difficluty with some American OS's regarding resurfacing. If I seem touchy or irritated, it is only because I had a great local OS support me, and others have recently posted of similar experience with their local OS, and I am tired of all of the negaitivity which seems to be aimed at discouraging prospective resurfacers from gaining the support of an American OS. And by the way, none of the above do I state as fact, never did I state any FACTS about Edith and Sharry, now or previously - rather all of the above is of my opinion. At least I have the courage to state emphatically that these are my opinions, and not be so arrogant as to suggest that I am making statements of fact Joe Bilateral, 5/8/03 C+ Dr Amstutz > Well said, Edith. > It seems to me that when the consistent experience of users of this forum is that of encountering orthopaedic surgeons who are extremely negative towards resurfing, then a conclusion can be extrapolated from that. To whit, that we all should be warned that we are likely to encounter the same attitude, and that we should not be put off by it. Forewarned is.....It certainly applied here in Canada as well and I thank people here for preparing me for that negative reception and to not be discouraged by it. > Sharry > RBHR De Smet 27/08/2003 > Re: Re: Not all US Orthopedic Surgeons are idiots! > > > Hi, > > Ah .........excuse me but I don't really appreciate being told that my > stereotyped views are offensive, if not ignorant as a blanket statement when > supposed views are not listed............ or information given about why my > particular views are stereotype etc........... Guest guest
Dan, couldn't have said it better myself....I have never had runins with anyone like with this guy...and hope I never do again. He needs to reread 's points on etiquette. Is he new to this group? Does that explain the lack of couth? Edith has always been the height of tact and doesn't deserve thsi kind of mudslinging. Guest guest
FAO Sharry Schneider Sharry My thoughts exactly - I thought that must be new to this group. I find bullying and rudeness weakens anybody's argument. I could not see the point of piling insults on people you disagree with. It seems however that has recognised this as well and that he will now contribute to this group in a much more measured, polite and constructive way. I look forward to that. Best regards Dan Re: Re: Not all US Orthopaedic Surgeons are idiots! Dan, couldn't have said it better myself....I have never had runins with anyone like with this guy...and hope I never do again.
