Hi Sharry, Pavel, Diane, et all... Wow! Four months out of surgery and I

am completely back to normal. Once in a while I get a pain in my other, non

resurfaced hip, and a little tenderness around my incision. I am moving

this week and have been lifting boxes with no trouble, though I am avoiding

any real heavy ones. I feel so lucky that my parents were able to give me

part of my inheritance; a trip to Belgium for a new hip. My only medical

problems have been the fact that the six half hour sessions of physical

therapy here in the states cost me more than a plane ticket to Belgium, and

I have insurance premiums to pay on top of it! My insurance company paid a

total of $70. Now they are raising my premiums to $265. per month. When I

took on Blue Shield of CA exactly one year ago with a 750. dollar

deductable, It was $140. per month. I am trying to not be angry about the

health care in this country and focusing on how grateful I am that there

were other options for me out of the country.

I did find an OS here in San Francisco for follow up care. Luckily I

haven't needed it. His name is Dr. Gilbert in case anybody needs someone

open minded. He doesn't do resurfacing but will look after you if needed.

It must drive you crazy, having to deal with that kind of insurance coverage.

Maybe someone here can suggest a different company?

Well, I really doubt any other insurance company will take me now! I would

just suggest that everyone avoid Blue Shield of California. I got succered

in by their " low rates " . Those rates immediately go up starting a month

after you get accepted, then again when you have a birthday, then again when

they feel like it. I had three raises in one year.
