well, I'm glad you have decided to look into what your options

are.

this is the comment that got me to write an immediate reply

(even though I'm about 4 days behind answering posts, and

even though my comment must be short just now)....

PLEASE do not get pressured into shots. You DO NOT have

to have them. There are exemptions in every state, which

vary from state to state. Here is a page with more info

Okay: so the point here is YOU DO NOT have to have your

son vaccinated. And AT THE VERY VERY VERY least, why not

WAIT until you have time to think this through, and get

any help and support you need. You can also read the

wonderful book by Dr. Cave in the meantime:

Tell them they are NOT to vaccinate your child. You can say

you want to wait, you can say you are looking into exemptions,

you can say it any way you want, but YOU are the one who

decides this. If necessary you keep your son with you so

they don't have any time to do things you have not authorized.

How about wait and read and do some more thinking and considering

and preparing. There are LOTS and LOTS of options, not just

vaccinate or detox---- I suggest you give yourself a little space

to consider a few of them. If you should (by some bizarre twist)

decide that vaccination is what you want for him, you CAN have

it done later. I hope this is highly unlikely. But why not

give yourself a little time, say 6 months as a start.

Well, you have a lot to do, so take it as you can. Among the

other projects, I would certainly suggest that you find some

families in your local area who have children with ASD.

groups about autism in North Carolina. Here are 2 lists

I have no idea if these groups are active or what they talk

about--- you can see if you want. I'm sure others on this

list (or other lists) can also suggest additional resources

where you are.

parents of kids who are newly diagnosed. I don't know if

you are really still new, but you are new to trying to find

other options, so you might find this helpful?

--I would agree with Moria. DO NOT GIVE THE SHOTS RIGHT NOW. You

need to take some time and research your options for various

treatments. I started with tests for yeast, food allergies, and I had

the vaccine titers tested. Those tests alone gave me quite a bit of

direction. My daughter had yeast, which we treated and got under

control. That really helped with sleep issues. She had allergies to

dairy, and we had better concentration after removing all dairy

products. She also showed high for her measles titers. I had good

response from Cod Liver Oil, just like you, and with the connection

between measles depleting vitamin A, and the good response to the Cod

Liver Oil, I decided to do high dose vitamin A to kill measles in her

gut. Since then, she has become very verbal, and is using sentences

and can tell you her name, etc. I'm not saying these things will work

for your son, because they are all different. However, at least doing

the tests will give you somewhere to start, and the people on this

list have tried most anything as a collective group, so you should be

able to get good insight after you get some test results. You

definitely have issues that sound like yeast(sleep problems), and

possibly measles(cod liver oil helps). These are just my thoughts,

and I hope you will use this group to your benefit. They have helped

, if he were my son I would absolutely refuse, but that's me.

I'm not offering medical advice, just saying what I would do. I have

a 7 yr old NT who I did not vaccinate for 5 yr boosters. If vaccines

did/do contribute to his issues, another round could very well cause

him to regress further. It is your choice, do not let me or anyone

else make you feel forced one way or the other. You have every right

and obligation to your son to say no, the doc cannot force you.

Have you read any books on autism? I would highly

recommend " Children with Starving Brains "

You don't have to only buy it there, just the first site I found

that had it. It explains all the current treatments of autism, but

does not explain chelation to the level of this message board. I

would suggest you read the files section to better understand this

angle of treatment.

I would also like to say that just because your son cannot speak the

words you want, does not mean he does not understand you. Many adult

autistics have stated that they always understood everything going

on around them. Dan Marino's son, who says he is now recovered from

autism, said he could remember being a young child and wanting so

badly to say something and not having any idea how to speak. Other

autistics, like Sondra , said she always understood, but it

might be a day or week later before she comprehended what was being

said, as the words were floating around her brain and suddenly

landed in the right place to make the connection. If you son

suddenly comes up to you without warning a few days later and gives

a hug, it could very well be that he suddenly made the connections

as to what you were saying and was able to make his body move the

way he wanted. Please know that when you speak to or about your son

in front of him that he is aware of your words in all likelyhood. I

hope this gives you comfort.

I know what you mean about needing to " wake up. " I was so depressed and numb

when was first diagnosed, we lost a lot of time...But there is SO much

you can do now that you're awake!!!!!! There is HOPE and there are LOTS of

people who want to help you, including me. This list is awesome. YOU ALREADY

KNOW THERE IS HOPE because you have seen changes just with CLO!!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

I am a psychologist and child development specialist who specializes in kids

0-3. Your husband sounds like 99% of the dads of kids with special needs.

Everyone has their own coping mechanisms dealing with the tragedy of losing the

child they expected to have. I think when there is regression, it is even

harder, because you are dealing with the death of someone who was there one day,

gone the next. I strongly encourage you to 1) develop friendships with other

moms who are going through the same thing, 2) meet your husband where he's at -

if he's not ready to talk about his grief, it is probably overwhelming to him,

3) just because your husband isn't ready to jump in and fight this autism

thing, don't assume he doesn't want to know. Share information with him in a

positive way. Pay attention to how much he can handle. When things start

working (remember, your son is going to get much better - maybe not all better,

but if you are seeing positive results with CLO, there is SO much that can

help), point them out. Get him to believe there is hope. 4) Try to not just

focus on autism. Your husband and family need normal times, too. Even if your

brain is spinning, try to remember what you did before autism came to your

house. Every day, try to give yourself and each member of your family a taste

of " normal. "

I went to a great autism conference when was first diagnosed. It was

called: Autism is a Marathon, Not a Sprint: Wear Comfortable Shoes. IT IS SO

TRUE. While you are helping your son, you need to take care of yourself and

remember that healing is a process.

SOMETHING YOU CAN START TODAY: If you don't have a copy of your son's medical

records, order them. Pretend you are the world's pickiest detective. There has

been a murder, and you are going to figure out when it happened, the murder

weapon(s), and the circumstances surrounding it. Begin with info re: YOUR

FAMILY HISTORY: Is there any incidence of developmental disorders, ADHD,

learning disabilities? Autoimmune disorders? Do you have amalgams? Does your

mom? Did you have a Rho-Gam shot? NEXT: DETAILS OF YOUR PREGNANCY:

Stressful? High-risk? Did you receive any vaccinations? Were you ill at any

time?

DETAILS OF YOUR SON'S BIRTH: Induced? C-section? Complications? Anything

unusual you remember? YOUR SON'S HEALTH HISTORY: Vaccinations, Illnesses,

anything unusual in feeding, sleeping, eating...

WRITE THIS ALL DOWN. Every few months I read my son's history to see if there

are any new clues. My son is 7, and last week I found a clue that I never

noticed before. When you are done writing it, have your husband read it and see

if he remembers anything different (my husband is the best historian in our

family - my brain is fried).

POST THE SIGNIFICANT THINGS ON THIS LIST and ask for help with what to do.

Many doctors can be very unhelpful. There are as many horror stories as there

are doctors (because some doctors are really bad and have more than one story,

not that all doctors are bad!) You need to find a doctor who will work with you

or find a laboratory that will help you without a doctor (others will have

references here). There are good doctors out there. Search relentlessly for

one who will either help you actively or get out of your way and sign the lab

slips you ask for.

I agree with others: DON'T DECIDE RE: VACCINATING UNTIL YOU HAVE ALL THE INFO

YOU NEED TO MAKE YOU COMFORTABLE WITH YOUR DECISION. If your son is vaccine

injured, neither he or your daughter should get more vaccines. You want to make

absolutely sure that you know he's NOT before you vaccinate him again. That is

reasonable. When physicians are considering medication for anyone, the first

question they ask is " Are you allergic to any medication? " Your doctor should

be sure your son isn't sensitive to the vaccines before he even thinks about

giving him another.

Keep posting. Ask lots of questions. DON'T GIVE UP and don't give in to

despair. NEVER FORGET THERE IS HOPE.

For sleeping melatonin works great at least to get them to go to sleep.

We give our son 40 lbs 1.5 mg 1/2 hour before bedtime works every time

also a great antioxidant

Number one: Make sure that you never give him another vaccine. Learn to stand

up for him with doctors.
