Guest guest
Dear Sharon, I'm sorry things went so badly. Where do you live? Have you done a search on mercury free dentists? Moria has links in the FAQ's section on how to find one. We did a search and found several in our area. After having an autistic son and trying to treat him instead of giving up on him like the docs told us to, I have decided that going to traditional docs when you want a non-traditional treatment is like going to a Buddhist temple and asking for a Christian baptism. Of course they look at us like we're crazy. We are coming from a different world view. I have started to look at THEM like they're crazy (especially after my doc gave me eardrops with thimerasol...) So we are here to remind you you're not crazy. I wish I could sit and have a glass of wine with you There are articles talking about Flouride as a neurotoxin. If your dentist hasn't heard of the controversy, he isn't very well educated. He has probably been brainwashed that the research is done by aliens...So be it. Find a dentist that comes from the same healthy planet that you do! If you want to give the current DDS an article, it might make you feel better. It probably won't change his mind. I'm sorry to hear about your son's tooth. Is it a permanent tooth? Isn't composite mercury? I know others will have good ideas for you. I am just thinking about that glass of wine...Here's to you! A courageous mom who wants to do the right thing! And to your son, who will be better because of it... HUGS for you and your son... , mom to and [ ] #@^ & %@% Dental appointment! Now my son needs surgery...they need to anesnatise him and put a crown in (COMPOSITE) I'm fed up! Is there some REAL testing that I could show these Dentists proving that Floride is a Nuero toxin? Guest guest
Here is one I have handy. BTW, my son has never ever had fluoride in toothpaste or water, and hasn't yet had a cavity (knock on wood). He is 8. You have to remember, most dentists are likely mercury poisoned! Guest guest
Sharon, I would seek a second opinion from a metal-free dentist in your area. We basically had to put up with the same thing with our son but we found someone in our state, who is metal-free, that agreed to just pull the baby teeth with cavities. Also, if you are looking for fluoride free toothpaste I would recommend something from Tom's of Maine. Here is a page from their website that features fluoride free toothpaste: http://www.tomsofmaine.com/toms/product.asp?dept%5Fid=400 & pf%5Fid=TP%2DnonFL Hope this helps. Guest guest
I understood composite to be OK. It takes WAY more skill to place it though, so the dentist needs some experience. Before I started with a mercury free dentist, I tried to have my old dentist place a composite for me...It fell out shortly, so he replaced it with mercury. He said something to the effect that composites don't hold up, rather than admitting they are very hard to do. Another great dentist I know, mentioned that composites take at least twice as long to do, which is probably why the regular dentists aren't interested. Re: [ ] #@^ & %@% Dental appointment! Guest guest
> Thanks ! > Composite isn't Mercury is it???????????? Now I'm terrified....It > isn't right? No, composite isn't mercury. There's a few different kinds, but I always thought it was something more like plastic or maybe porcelain. We had our own dental appointment misery today. The dentist said my (NT) 6 y.o. needed x-rays and was too wiggly to sit for them at his checkup 2 weeks ago. The dentist told us to give him some Vistaril and try the x-rays this morning. His older brother (AS) has had Vistaril a few times w/no trouble. Turns out my 6 y.o. nearly fainted! They took him to the area where they use sedation and nitrous oxide to give him oxygen for a few minutes. They said I must have given him too much to eat this morning along with the Vistaril but could not explain how this would have caused fainting when I pressed them on it. I then spoke to a nurse at our pediatrician's office who found some information that said Vistaril can sometimes cause a drop in blood presure. I am furious that no one told me of this possibililty, however remote. We may be looking for another dentist soon, which is a shame, because I liked this office before. Guest guest
Sharon, I just know how they would look at me, so I don't try to enlighten them - I just say that fluoride may be a good thing for some, but for my child it is contraindicated, because my child has thyroid problem. I never mention that I read it somewhere - I just say that my son's doctor (and refer to our DAN! doctor) said that fluoride would be harmful for his health. Usually it works well. I put all this information in the questionnaire which I fill before the appointment. Say, you want to avoid metals in his mouth - you can put in the questionnaire that he is " allergic to metals " . The main thing to avoid is amalgam. Margaret > OK, we a now back from our dental appointment!
