Guest guest
Jackie... My insurance only covers physical therapy if I have surgery. So I'm not covered for any PT. I also take Elavil at night - 50mgs normally - 75 to 100 mgs. if I'm in an inflamed Fibro state. I get " groggy " from this but many times after 3 nights of the elevated dose - I get relief and can cut it back. My stomach is so PICKY now about meds - I tood 800 mgs. of Ibuprofen for my arthritis " eaten up " right knee and eventually had a colon bleed that I think was the result of my stomach being unable to handle NSAIDS. So I had to " leave them " and use strictly Tylenol for pain. I see my counselor today - and plan on discussing meds. for Fibro - options. Because if I'm hurting too much during the day - it seems to make the episode last longer. > I HAVE BEEEN SUFFERING FROM FIBROMYALGIA FOR A FEW YEARS & I WAS > WONDERING IF ANYONE HAD ANY SUGGESTIONS. MY INSURANCE PAID FOR 6 > SESSIONS OF PHYSICAL THERAPY & I'M WAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM IF THEY > WILL PAY FOR ANYMORE. I TAKE 800MG. IBUPROFEN 3 TIMES A DAY & 1 1/2 > 25MG. ELAVIL A NITE. IT'S SO FRUSTRATING, WITH And I also tend to gain weight from taking Elavil. I really WATCH IT - because I get depressed w/weight gain and my now " replaced knee joint " hurts much more when I gain weight. I think most tricyclics do cause weight gain. But I'd be in deep doo doo if I stopped Elavil at night - as it's the only thing that insures I SLEEP deeply. > THE MUSCLE SPASMS ALL THE TIME. IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS, I > WOULD APPRECIATE IT. THANKS ALOT, JACKIE And so I look forward to other replies to your post. I do walk - even if it's only for 4 blocks or so. I do " stretch " and put my leg up on a chair and then put my weight into it as my knee bends to get more freedom of movement in the knee joints. The right knee now only bends about 100 degrees, tops. I WISH I had a hot tub--warm water soothes and feels very good to me. I stand in the shower 2/3 times a day when I'm hurting to have that water pour over my painful areas.. Marsha

Looking for names and numbers. You can find lists of most the doctors in the US doing metal-on-metal resurfacing on http://www.activejoints.com For Conserve Plus: http://www.activejoints.com/hipdocs.html For Corin Cormet: http://www.activejoints.com/corindocs.html There are two doctos in Cleveland, likely your nearest option. Good luck. -
Guest guest
Hi Becky, The person to speak with at JRI is Chuck , he is the medical director. Sorry to hear that you have had difficulty in reaching them, they are usually pretty good about getting back within a couple of days. JRI's phone number is (213)742-1075. Good luck Joe Bilateral C+, 5/8/03, Dr. Amstutz > How do I get a hold of Dr. Stachniw? I live in Ohio, and will go > anywhere to look into this surgery. I'm 47 and have OA in my right > hip. Guest guest
Dr. Theodore Crofford in Fort Worth, Texas did mine. I had both done on 8-25-03 and feel completely " normal " again. He's a great surgeon! Dianne, Bil C+ 8-25-03 > >Reply-To: surfacehippy >To: surfacehippy >Subject: Referrals >Date: Tue, 30 Dec 2003 21:25:25 -0000 > >How do I get a hold of Dr. Stachniw? Guest guest
I'm not sure about Dr. S. I too live in Ohio 42 yrs old and had bi lat hip resurfe by Dr. Gross in Columbia SC. Absolutely no regrets, I'm totally happy and more mobile now than in years. I just returned from SC for my 6 month check up and All is Well. Best Wishes Timmy T. Guest guest
This is the number for Dr. Stachniw in Galesburg. When I called a month or so ago, he returned my call personally within 1 day. How Impressive! Heck of a nice guy. At that time, he'd done about 50 re-surfs and currently uses the Corin Cormet. Appraently, he has had his hips resurfaced by Dr. Gross whom, I believe, is in SC. I'm planning on sending my x-rays this week for him to look at. Good luck. p.s. website www.myronstachniw.com ----Original Message----- From: kbrews Sent: Tuesday, December 30, 2003 6:01 PM To: surfacehippy Subject: Re: Referrals > How do I get a hold of Dr. Stachniw?
