Guest guest
Sue--Someone else on the list who's a diet coke addict! I'm terrible! I liked the advice I got the other day. Just concentrate on drinking more water--not on cutting back on diet coke and then maybe the cutback will occur on its own. I bet the reason you crave the bars is because of the diet coke. I nibble on way too many cashews, almonds, etc and I know its the diet coke that makes me want to eat. It's almost like your body needs the food to even out whatever the diet coke is doing to it. So I bet if you drank more water you'd find your cravings for the bars diminish. I know we're all different but I'm sure that's my problem. About two months ago I quit drinking coke for about 3 weeks and I felt totally different--didn't have near the munchies. But then I got back on it again. Guest guest
Thanks ...I do believe that and I who am up to five cans a day really know I need to do something about it. (as I open another can of diet coke) I swear they put something in it on purpose to make it so addictive!! I guess I just have to find some willpower because it's not going to happen otherwise. That's pretty cheap. ;o( But yet it's still more expensive that water. -- Sue Huls 214/178/175(mini goal)/160 3/9/01 Independent Party Consultant http://www.1800partyconsultant.com/50407/ all your party supply needs in one place

Guest guest
> Thanks > coke) I swear they put something in it on purpose to make it so addictive!! .. Fay They do; it's called " caffeine " If you absolutely must, try caffeine free diet coke. I hate coke/ pepsi. Even as a kid, I couldn't understand the attraction. I was a lemonade person. In Australia we refer to Sprite, 7 UP as lemonade. Now the only fizzy drink I have occasionally is soda water AKA seltzer, or Perrier or things like that. Even then, my naturopath said no more than 3 glasses a day & count each as 1/2 carb. An experiment that we did at school was to take a copper penny & drop it into a glass of coke for a few days . The penny corroded. That really scared a lot of people away from it. DH drinks way too much coke. I actually begrudge buying it. For every 2 - 3 2 lt bottle I but for him, I buy 1 1.25 lt os soda water. Even then, by the time I get to the end of it it's gone flat. I know he has a couple cans a day at work too. 16 years ago DS went to a " dietitian " .She was THE person to go to here. The first thing she said that I've always remembered is - if you absolutely must have it - then no more than 1 glass of fizzy drink a day - it bloats you up. Guest guest
It could be the caffeine. Weaning plan: switch to caffeine free, limit to a certain number of cans/day, reduce by 1 can/wk, until it is only an occasional treat. Don't buy cases. Get a 6 pack or 1 2-liter for the week. If you are 5 cans/day, make today a 4 can day; buy caffeine free on your next shopping trip. Guest guest
Me too! I never have understood the attraction to carbonation... even as a child I didn't like it. Maybe I'm a wimp or something but the bubbles actually hurt my throat! The only kind of bubbly I like is champagne - and much to my accountant's chagrin, the expensive kind (quite the problem on a beer budget <g>). I just drink water... cheaper and better for me. Though as a kid I was totally into Kool-ade! -Marlena >From: mblack@... >If you absolutely must, try caffeine free diet coke. >I hate coke/ pepsi. Maybe I'm a wimp or something but the bubbles This is interesting - the levels of carbonation varies from country to country. Coke in the UK is multiple times stronger than in the states. When I first had a coke in the states I tried to send it back and they told me it came out of a can/bottle! Wifey nearly choked on her first when she came here Red
Guest guest
Because it is my last real joy!!! I still drink about a six pack a day. Not good for me but better than weighing 75 pounds more. 250/175/165ish > Hi Girls and Guys - I've got some bad news for you! - Although the diet coke > has no sugar in it, the sweetness of it fools your body (insulin) into > thinking its sugar, so you get the same reaction as if you are drinking the > real thing. Guest guest
kaz, I learned this in the late 80's when I was diagnosed with Candidia. This is one reason why I don't eat artificial sweeteners, the other is asparteen causes major head aches..... I had two books on the control of yeast/candidia and both said the same thing.
