Guest guest
Hello everyone. I noticed my son's head was flat in the back and also lopsided when he was 2 months. Mentioned it to ped and he said no big deal-4 month appt it was really significant. He said he would refer me to a specialist if no improvement by 6 month . I went home and researched plagio and was not comfortable waiting that long. I was referred to Dr. at Vanderbilt (TN). We had a 3D CT scan a month later and then saw Dr. a month after that. He said my son needed a helmet and sent us right over to the orthotist. We had a casting a week later and are due to get our helmet Friday. My son will be 6 1/2 months old. I just feel a little lost. Our consultation lasted about 5 minutes with Dr. who my ped told me was the only Doctor around who treated this. I read posts with measurements concerning severity of the plagio but we were not given any of this info. Most people's children seemed to have been prescribed the DOC band. We are getting the RHS helmet- I can't find any info from the group resources on this one other than the fact that it is FDA approved. My insurance (Cigna) said no way would they cover the helmet or treatment by Dr. unless it was post surgery. Anyone with info on Dr. , or the RHS helmet? Thanks for listening.
