We went with Cranial Tech, since that was the place that our Doctor recommended. I didn't know that we had a Hanger facility in our area. However it wouldn't have made a difference when it came to coverage with the band. Our policy has an exclusion with orthotic deceives/durable medical equipment that changes the shape of a body part. We are in the process of appealing UHC.

Overall I was very happy with Cranial Tech. They were very knowledgeable. (all of there staff is trained specifically for children with plagiocephally/brachycephaly & scaphocephaly). I felt very comfortable asking any type of question. My son loved the staff. I think when it comes to Cranial Tech vs. Hanger, it all depends on where you feel the most comfortable. I've heard of success stories with both the hanger and cranial Tech. I think the only major difference is Cranial Tech only deals with children with plagio/brachy/scaphocephaly.

We have UnitedHealthcare too. They are a hit or miss in coverage. You will definetly want to contact them. We decided to pay upfront and try to get reimburssed after. We did that because it would take a month or longer just for the approval process. We wanted to get the band on asap before our son got older. Good luck.
