Hi Becky,

I'll take diabetes any day over cancer, but I do understand your situation

with trying to control.

My oncologist told me today that most of his patients take Femara for 5

years, but because of the aggressiveness of my cancer, he has no plans to take

me

off of it. Even though I'm almost positive I will not have cancer again, I

don't mind taking the Femara. So, it makes my hair thin, so what, still

loves me and all my many friends still care about me and that is all that

matters.

I am one happy person. I wish everyone could be as happy as I am.

hugs

Apologies--public and private--accepted. No further need to discuss it.

Let's get back to diabetes discussion.

Bruce/apology

Ok folks, I've been thinking and have realized that I need to post this.

I posted that email really fast and wasn't thinking when I did. I was

hurt and angry. I want to publicly apologize to Bruce and the rest of

you for posting a private email. I was wrong for doing that. Chalk it up

to stress if you like, but still, it was wrong and I'm sorry Bruce. It

will never happen again, I can promise you that!

Now can we start over? Pretty please?

If this post goes through, then my unsubscribe didn't go through.

And Bruce, I'm truly sincerely sorry to have upset you and I excepted

your apology in private email.

Thank you!

PS: We all need a hug, so hugs!

That's why I didn't say anything TO him or even ABOUT him where he could hear

it. But what one THINKS is certainly one's own business, and if we can't

exchange our thoughts here, what is the purpose of this group.

Re: Bruce/apology

Actually, Bruce, I was hurt to see you being so judgmental

about the poor guy eating all the wrong things in the

cafeteria. As a Mother of three grown " kids " all carefully

trained to love vegetables and other healthy things, it

hurt me to picture that the poor man was perhaps reared all

wrong and never got a taste for healthy things at a young

age. It may take considerable intervention to help people

set in their ways with failing health.:( (A few tears here

too...)

Hi Becky, One thing about me is that I hate it when I've said or done something

that upsets someone. I get upset, I get angry and then I realize, it's not worth

it and do what I can to make a friendship work. I was stunned and devastated

with the news, even though I was expecting it, but there was a small part of me

still wishing and hoping that they'd say I'm not a diabetic. So I was upset to

begin with.

I bought 5 books today and my husband and I are cooking tonight. Baked Salmon

and steamed broccoli. Yummy!

Rhonda, as for peering in grocery carts, you'd be appalled

at some of the sweet treats I have to buy for my skinny

18-year-old. He is 5' 10 " and 134 pounds only, so we feed

him lots and he is still prone to losing weight. I often

tell the grocery checker, " Don't worry. That's not for me. "

Thanks Sherry,

For reconsidering.

As someone else said, being evaluated as diabetic comes as a shock to all of us

- and it takes awhile to settle down and realize that in a kinda strange way,

its a good thing, because it means you can take charge of the rest of your life.

And its your life, no-one elses - so you do what YOU have to do, and not what

anyone else expects of you. Your family needs to realize what diabetes is, and

that you are the important one here.

Ive learned to type and then if I am upset, to wait awhile before I send it, and

by that time, Ive usually calmed down

Can I ask everyone do that - someone just commented that they were going to

leave the list because someone else commented on watching overweight people -

can we all be a bit tolerant - not only about fat people (and a lot of us

are!!!) but also about comments - I dont know about you, but I get it hammered

into me everywhere " If you would only loose weight - you could come off

medication " - I tried this, if I ate cardboard for every meal, I probably would

not loose weight, and being diabetic is not a one size fits all solution at all.

For example, last night late, and because I was hungry, I had a bowl of corn

flakes with six canned cherries in it. At 6 this morning, my bs was 16.4. Two

hours later at 9.30, and with NO FOOD in between, it was 6.2 - I have no idea

what happened, but obviously a late night snack is not the way to go, and canned

cherries are definitely not the way to go, although I had eaten them at 9pm last

night.

I'm with you Eunice! My husband loves me no matter what! After nearly 25 years,

he'd better! LOL I'm a very happy person, but the news I got yesterday very

upsetting and devastating, but you know, I've been much sicker and nearly lost

my life several times from all the surgeries I've had, so I know I can beat this

diabetes and NOT end up like my dad!

HUGS!

Sherry,

Baked salmon and broccoli - you are definitely on the right road. I lay finely

sliced lemon on top of salmon and grill it - its delicious.
