When to test?

I am currently testing in the mornings and 2 hours after each meal, with the

occasional pre-meal test, depending on how I am feeling. I am wondering,

however, how do I judge when to test? At the class I attended this past week,

the dietician said to test 2 hours after starting to eat, whereas I'd been

testing 2 hours after finishing my meal. I try to eat slowly, to feel fuller

faster, so it often ends up being just a little over an hour after I finish

eating before I test. Is this normal? I had GD when I had my son 5 years ago,

and was told at that time to test 2 hours after I finished eating. I'm confused!

lol

Also, my fasting tests are still running high, but are getting better slowly.

I'm diet-controlled for now, no meds, so I'm wondering what I can do to try to

bring them down? I'm averaging 9.4 mmol/l (169 mg/dl) in the mornings. My target

range is 4-7 (72-126). Any ideas? Thanks!

-ooops, forgot to mention if you test at bedtime and fasting then you

can see if you stay pretty much the same or have higher numbers in the

morning. This will also tell you if you have any problems during the

night.
