Guest guest
You are right that we ALL need to execise. I do 30 minutes cardio and then hand weights, crunches, leg kicks, and Yoga 3 to 5 times a week. Sue Hello: i have another question and comment. Do you do exercise? Because i have read that in order for thyroid medicines to work a lot better on our bodies, it would be good to introduce an exercise routine as part of our therapy. Anyways i am try9ing to lose weight so i started a 2 times a day exercise routine (30 mins of stationary bike in morning + 35 minutes of walking in afternoons) have a good day schizoid_lost_boy

Guest guest
Seems lately my amt of exercise is just doing housework. I get tuckered out so quick that it's depressing. I haven't gone riding in some time and the last time I did was so pooped I got home and went right to bed. This coming from a person who considers a 3 hr trail ride "short". I was only out for an hour this last time.JustYourTypeDTP wrote: You are right that we ALL need to execise.I do 30 minutes cardio and then hand weights, crunches, leg kicks, and Yoga 3 to 5 times a week.SueOn 8/17/06 4:08 PM, "schizoid_lost_boy" <schizoid_lost_boy (AT) yahoo (DOT) com> wrote: Hello: i have another question and comment. Guest guest
But then see, I don’t do housework, or not much of it— daughter in school, husband at work, cat sleeps all day and me working all day upstairs, no one gets anything “dirty” per se LOL We have a very “lived in “ look too, so that helps with the no housework...! Guest guest
Spiff.. the trick that worked for me... is to consider housework as exercise.. to break it up into 'sets' and 'reps' and 'sessions' .... if you can break things up and vary it to allow your body to get breaks.. for me anyway that helped a lot until my strength and endurance developed and I was better able to handle things. I don't know what level you are at right now... but for me some of the stages included: Breaking up chores into standing stuff and sitting stuff. Doing the standing/walking stuff for a few minutes, then doing sitting stuff for a few minutes... and taking complete rest breaks BEFORE I was tired or sore. Some days that meant that I didn't get a whole lot done that.one day but I was able to function the next day and the next.... which beats the dickens out of being comatose for a week.... After that I went to 'commercial chores'... I am one that has the TV on pretty much all day, it keeps me company while I work... The rule is that when the commercial starts I have to hit the floor with my feet running.... I scoot through dishes... a phase of laundry.. whatever I can zoom through in three to four minutes..then back to the computer... sitting... It's amazing how much you can get done that way. since its' broken up like that it means that that 3 or 4 minutes out of every fifteen you are ZOOMING through the work and not just 'going through the motions' which is what I did a lot of when I was tired and sore. Something else that I've done, and have since seen on Flylady (www.flylady.com) is never making special trips from room to room when putting things away and straightening up. I have a designated spot where things get put, by doors, so that the next time I leave that room and can grab anything that can be dropped off on the way to wherever I'm going I do it.. I seldom go down the hallway without something in my paws to drop off on the way. Saves A LOT of walking, time and effort once you get your brain to think that way. I take that a step further... I don't think I'm OCD about it.. .I've done it this way most of my life.... I had wash dishes... I don't like dishwashers, but that is a whole nother topic...... anyway I was dishes in order... so that when they are staked in the rack to dry I can grab them in groups to put away... all the dinner plates are stacked together... all the breakfast plates... all the bowls.. all my mini meal container bottoms, and tops.... This way I can grab all the stuff that goes to a cupboard on that side of the room and make one trip, granted it's only three steps.... but why do that same three steps there, and back, four times when you can get by with once?? Anyway.. it's a mind set that I've developed that works well for me... Topper () On Thu, 17 Aug 2006 15:33:31 -0700 (PDT) DerSpiff writes: Seems lately my amt of exercise is just doing housework. Guest guest
Cool ideas! Thanks! I already do the "stuff in my paws", boy does that save alot of time, let alone energy! I found that I don't have the impulse to start in another room, get 2 things done, go to another room, get one thing done and so forth, and after 2 hrs not having a clean house. It's more organized that way. One thing I've done is read a chapter in a book, do dishes, vacuum, read a chapter in a book. The only problem with that is that if it's a really good book, it squeeks into 2 chapters and then.......nothing gets done eventually. I'm not much for tv and I have tried the working when the ads on trick before. I'm going to have to do it more often now since I can't seem to discipline myself with a book!LOL Spifftopper2@... wrote: Spiff.. the trick that worked for me... is to consider housework as exercise.. to break it up into 'sets' and 'reps' and 'sessions' .... if you can break things up and vary it to allow your body to get breaks.. for me anyway that helped a lot until my strength and endurance developed and I was better able to handle things. Guest guest
I've done the reading thing too... but I don't do whole chapters.... I aim for about 15 pages, for me that's a bit less than 15 minutes... I put my marker at the part where I have to put the book down (or if I'm doing an ebook, where I have to move AWAY from the screen) and then stick to it. I've also down count down timers. (I have a freeware program for the puters that has one in it) so that I can set it for so many minutes and when time is up the .wav file goes off ( a recording of my voice using 'colorful' language to remind me what I have to go do) and a screen with the same words written on it. I try to make the stuff something that will make me laugh..... Things like.... Hop up from the chair and quick like a bunny go do the dishes... but not too quick... if you trip and fall rug burn face is a B**** I have a list of taglines I've used too... gosh.. it's been a long while since I've done those... I should start that up again!!! hehehehehe I've had rug burn face BTW, I was darn lucky that I didn't break my nose when I fell. It was a coarse, sculptured carpet on a porch..... ripped the hide off my right check and scuffed up the side of my nose! heheheheh Oh... didn't break the eggs in the bag I was bringing up the steps either! hehehehe My current challenge... if anyone has suggestions, PLEASE jump in.... I need to find a way to better schedule my days. I THINK the hot weather has passed.. that means the puters can be on more than just a couple of hours a day.... I NEED/WANT/MUST spend more time on the book and on the websites and HERE..... but have trouble moving from one puter based task to the next. I have a lot of content that is still in text files that needs to be incorporated into the websites as well as photos that I've been stock-piling to go with the cooking/baking pages on both sites... so tons of work to do and I find myself diving head first into a project and not coming up for air, or to keep current with the other stuff... Maybe I'll get back into the swing of things... it's only been a couple of nice days in a row so far so I'm still feeling like a floundering fish! One thing I've been trying is that every other time I jump up for 'commercial chores' I have to come back to a different computer based project... But so far that hasn't fallen into place yet. sigh Topper () On Sat, 19 Aug 2006 10:43:38 -0700 (PDT) DerSpiff writes: Cool ideas! Thanks! Guest guest
What if you used the timer idea on your computer stuff? List what you've got going online and in priority about how much time ( you have alloted in the day for computer stuff ) you should dedicate to each one. Set your timer to go off and then go to the nxt project? Spifftopper2@... wrote: I've done the reading thing too... but I don't do whole chapters....
