Day 2 in band

Hi everyone,

My son Ray received his band yesterday. He laughed when they put it on him. He thought it was a game. He seemed to do ok yesterday, but has been fussy today. It may be due to the two teeth that are pushing through on top. Anyway, he has only had a few pink/red spots, which fade away within about 20 mins. The one thing I did notice is that it slides down on his forehead fairly low. I can't get it to stay up at the brow level where the tech had originally placed it. I have the velcro just where she had it. I keep adjusting the band, which is making him more aware of it, so maybe I should just leave it alone? I will call CT on Monday, but was just wondering if anyone else has run into this. Also, I followed the decorating tips, but it is already chipping. He is crawling and bumping into things, so it may be unavoidable. I used 3 coats of acrylic paint, stickers and 3

coats of mod podge. I plan to put another coat of mod podge on it tonight, but just curious if there are any other tips out there.

Thanks

Hi -

Glad to hear he's adjusting pretty well. I'm sure teething isn't

helping, but it seems he's doing well overall. I know what you mean

about it looking low on his brow. Our therapist at CT said to resist

the urge to adjust it, it would be fine. And you're right, it's

going to bother him more when you play with it and at this point,

it's probably just better to let him get used to wearing it. As long

as it's not bothering him (he's not playing and fussing with it), it

should be fine. That might just be an area that will need a minor

trim/adjustment when you go back for your one-week check.

Is the paint chipping from the main parts of the band or just around

the edges? My son's band always seems to chip around the edges of

the rounded caps within the first day I paint it, which really

drives me crazy. But I touch it up with more paint and more mod

podge and it usually stays nice for at least a week before it's

chipped again. By the end of 3 weeks, I'm ready to change it up. The

other area that sometimes peels is his sideburn opposite the velcro.

For some reason, I think the way he sleeps, the edges of paint will

get stuck to his sheet or something and end up getting

pushed/scrunched up. It doesn't peel off, it just folds over on top

of itself to reveal the white underneath. I touch these areas up the

same way, and it holds pretty well.

Good luck!
